@nathanpapp4324 жыл бұрын
@Tracer Main You could argue that call in the Vikings 49s game was a bad one. Richardson does actually try to brace himself and not land with his full weight on the QB. The Clay Mathews tackle is exactly what that rule was made for. He had Alex Smith wrapped up all the way to the ground, landing on his shoulder. Get the QB.” When they’re brushing their teeth, “Get the QB. Get the QB.” It’s all they think about. Physics/momentum exist. What are they supposed to do? Just let him throw it? Because, in most teams' best tackler's stat line is only about 2-8 sacks for linebackers, and 5-20 for good D Linemen. Sacks make up an average of about 10-25% of most players' tackles. Sacks and hits on the quarterback really aren't THAT common. Yes, some QBs get sacked 5-7 times in one game, but that one game might have 50+ total tackles, so that 5-7 isnt that much, it just seems significant because sacks are ALWAYS for a loss, while most tackles are NOT for a loss. The QB position is the most taxing, most important, and hardest to produce positive output, consistently for every game. QBs getting injured not only change the offense completely, but it also has potential to change the entire team'sbtrajectory. Which influences ticket sales, views on TV, interest in the team, merch sales, and money put in by the team. A vast majority of the time, QBs ARE defenseless, and it seems, besides linemen, QBs are prone to get injured more often. This is probably why.

My biggest problem with the roughing the passer rule is that it goes against how they teach you to tackle. When you are tackling someone your supposed to fall on them instead of them falling on you. If you do that to a qb it is roughing the passer.

QBs signed up to the nfl draft knowing it’s a physical sport and you can get injured any second. QBs are humans too, if someone falls on top of the QB or slaps his arm we don’t have to call a penalty.
