Honestly I'm glad Hailey mentioned that she doesn't like the fact that Bailey Sarian's collection is, if I put it bluntly, based on murders. I was into that type of stuff when I was young too; like Forensic Files and stuff - I get it if someone is into it, I really can't judge if you are there and haven't yet figured it out that it's just a lot of negative energy you don't need to be carrying around, or that you don't even realize you are carrying around. (I didn't). Murders aren't romantic. They're unfathomably gruesome and scarring and I'm really over this 'true crime as a personality' thing.
@laurasenz12 күн бұрын
Thank you-I've seen very little comment on the fact that it's extremely distasteful, to say the least. Somebody I'd known all my life was murdered in one of the more publicised murders in New Zealand while we were at university, and I know that her death has been covered by at least one true crime KZbinr. It's very easy to sit there and make or watch a video, as if you're watching a fictional horror film, but when you knew the person behind those headlines, knew firsthand how wonderful they were and what a good life they deserved to have, know exactly what happened to them and how bad it was, and saw that horrific day absolutely wreck a kind and loving family, I find it quite disgusting to see the violent deaths of real people used for profits and selling makeup.
@societycrumbles12 күн бұрын
Bailey is probably the most disrespectful true crime channel I know. She treats talking about real people being m*rdered like it's gossip, there's zero surprise she would make it an aesthetic for her makeup.

People with anxiety watch it to help calm down our anxiety. Has nothing to do with romanticizing anything. I just want to know so I'm more prepared what to look for and slightly less anxious. No one thinks it's romantic or fun. I watched as many roommate horror stories as I could before getting a roommate to be prepared for what I could. Same idea elsewhere I also like knowing people got caught. But I do agree, beliey does treat it like entertainment and the naming is disrespectful
@societycrumbles11 күн бұрын
@@nastya0987 No one is shaming you for watching true crime, I regularly do so as well -- it's just the way this woman is talking about is problematic. There are plenty of true crime creators who actually have respect for the victims that deserve bigger following that her.

Couldn't agree more with the Bailey Sarian critique. Just makes me feel icky, because I feel like people who consume too much true crime content tend to forget it isn't just a story. They were real people who suffered and I feel it needs to be consumed with solemnity instead of capitalism like this. "Fatally Yours" romanticizes it too much for me, esp since so many women lose their lives to their partner. I appreciate you mentioning it. I love the red shadow and liner in the collection though. Happy to see you both!

The skatole scent one is funny. What I understood about it (I researched it a few years back, because in some social science book of mine casually was claimed that there are many perfumes who contained parts of the scent of feces because we as humans would like the faint scent, like it would make us feel like at some safe place or smth) is that it is a scent that is contained in flowers like jasmine that smells somewhat "floral" in small doses, but essentially is what makes feces smell like they do, but feces do contain a whole lot of it and then it reeks to us. The chemical compound itself is called skatole, another way more common name for this compound used in perfumes seems to be indole. So, yeah, floral shit describes it quite accurately apparently 😂

I think you guys are misjudging Paris. She has a huge following. Any makeup she releases has the potential to be amazing if she uses the connections at her disposal. Everything she does, there is a huge group of people cheering her on. If she released a mid-range natural makeup with unique shades, she would do incredible. Creamy shadows, highlighters, and a 10-12 shade palettes with pops of color that’s not gold, brown, or grey. Easy

I haven’t watched Bailey so I won’t judge her content. But I do agree that the whole “fatally yours” thing appears to treat these real, awful instances people’s lived nightmares as spooky stories or horror entertainment. I don’t think the line should be blurred like that and we should be more careful. Channels monetizing their content or having a patreon to receive compensation for the research, writing, etc. they do to report on these stories (I think of channels like JCS and dreading) is one thing. But selling a product that simply perpetuates a fascination with actual gruesome crime, not slasher fiction, feels like another thing entirely. :/ I appreciate the takes and conversation here ladies :•)

Ok, giant perfume nerd here: try cape heartache from imaginary authors. Strawberry & wood. It’s great. They have an interesting collection in general, the man who makes the scents doesn’t have a perfumery education so he’s got a different perspective. If you’re curious about dirty rice from that Korean brand, try white rice by Vietnamese brand d’annam, it’s so starchy ricey. And d’annam in general I think y’all would find interesting. Weirdest I’ve come across? T-rex by zoologist (meant to smell like to comet hitting & killing the dinosaurs ), inexcusable evil by toskovat (gunpowder, blood, smoke), secretions by etat libre (semen, sweat, etc…) and vi et armis by beaufort london which is inspired by colonialism and it really does smell extremely opressive. If y’all like gormands, try hilde soliani! Her branding & marketing sucks, but the quality is through the roof. Lambrosc smells like high quality grape candy, latte freddo smells like condensed milk - everything I’ve tried by her smells so REAL.

She is a good DJ and an advocate for women’s mental health so I like her. Also Kat’s opinion with the freckle pen, THANK YOU. I have natural freckles that go under my eyes and across my nose and I would only want to maybe add them back in sometimes. But I work in a place with low light so it’s hard to see facial features like that. But I used to get made fun of for my freckles and it’s annoying that it’s popular.
