Following pregnancy, I noticed my hair fall but I stayed calm. I took action to to control it. I opted for a health-centered strategy. I prioritized my diet, having vitamin-packed foods, specially rich in Protein, Biotin. I exercised daily and engaged in yoga for stress management. I just stayed away from styles that pull on my hair and stopped using heated styling tools to minimise hair damage. I even started applying LittleExtrra Coconion hair oil and shampoo combined with a wooden neem comb. The result was hair fall control and the return of my confidence.

*CONTENTS* (feel free to skip to the section that most interests you): Defining PCOS Symptoms Testing Causes (general) Treatment (general) Causes (detailed) Treatment (detailed) 💡 *Defining PCOS* *PCOS* = Polycystic Ovary Syndrome *Poly* = many *Cystic* = related to cysts *Cyst* = an unusual growth; a group of cells that are very different than the cells around them (usually filled with fluids) *Ovary* = an organ; part of the female reproductive system *Syndrome* = a group of symptoms that happen together which indicate a specific condition So, PCOS is a condition (accompanied by multiple symptoms) in which cysts grow on the ovaries of a woman. 🧾 Symptoms *_can_* include: ■ Irregular periods or loss of period for multiple months ■ Abnormally painful menstrual cramps ■ Abnormally heavy or light bleeding ■ Male-pattern hair growth (excessive facial hair, etc) ■ Hair loss ■ Rapid weight gain/Difficulty losing weight ■ Holding fat around the front and back mid section (while having skinnier limbs) ■ Chronic fatigue, low energy (especially after meals) ■ Unhealthy skin conditions - dark skin around the neck, skin tags, acne, etc ■ Abnormally high food cravings and appetite (especially for sweet foods) ■ Depression, mood swings, abnormal anxiety ■ Infertility ■ Multiple miscarriages 🧾 *Testing usually reveals* (English/US units): ■ Low/high estrogen levels ■ Low/high androgen levels (testosterone) ■ Low/high thyroid hormones [T3, reverse T3, T4, THS] ■ High fasting insulin levels (very low levels indicate Type I diabetes) ■ High C-peptide levels (very low levels indicate Type I diabetes) ■ High fasting glucose levels ■ High HbA1c (over 5.4) ■ High Triglycerides (over 100) ■ Low HDL ■ High C-reactive protein (CRP) *NOTES* ■ Testing THS is not reliable on its own. Include T3 and T4. ■ Fasting glucose is not reliable on its own. Include C-peptide and HbA1c. ■ ALWAYS ASK FOR THE ACTUAL NUMBERS WHEN YOU GET TESTED - some doctors will just give you a verbal interpretation of the test results without giving you the actual result numbers. You want a copy of the numbers so that you can see *_exactly_* where your results are. ■ If your doctor doesn’t know what all of these tests are, that’s a big sign that you might want to get a different doctor. 📙 *Causes of PCOS* The two main causes of PCOS are: 1) Chronic hyperinsulinemia (constantly maintaining elevated insulin level) 2) Thyroid dysfunction ➕ *Treatment* There is a common myth that PCOS cannot be reversed or cured, but that the best that can be achieved is symptom management. PCOS can be completely reversed. Any treatments that positively address hyperinsulinemia and thyroid health will contribute to the treatment of PCOS. 📙 *Causes of PCOS - DETAILS* 1) Chronic hyperinsulinemia: When a human female makes lifestyle choices that result in constantly elevated insulin levels, this creates a hormone imbalance. The longer the hormone imbalance exists, the more PCOS symptoms will begin to manifest. If the imbalance exists long enough, cysts will begin to grow on the woman’s ovaries. Chronic elevated insulin levels create hormone imbalance in (at least) two ways: 1) Chronic elevated insulin signals ovarian cells to overproduce hormones (androgens such as testosterone). 2) Chronic elevated insulin causes fat cells to overproduce hormones that convert testosterone into estrogens resulting in estrogen dominance So, in some cases, you might find that a female has excess testosterone, but in other females you may find that they have excess estrogen. In either case, the hormones being out of balance will cause PCOS symptoms if left untreated for too long. 2) Thyroid dysfunction: I’m actually not going to go into much detail here because it gets *_EXTREMELY_* complicated. The bottom line is that if your thyroid is over or under functioning, the hormones it produces (especially T3) can cause other hormones to become unbalanced which produces PCOS symptoms. It involves the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, estrogen, progesterone, Luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, gonadotropin-releasing hormone, blah, blah, blah. TREATMENT 🔑 ■ Keep your daily carbohydrates below 20g ■ Do resistance training (heavy weights) ■ Do sprints (if you can do them safely) ■ Aim for at least six hours of sleep per night That protocol will result in full PCOS reversal in about a year. You'll see huge improvements in just three months. Stick to the following foods to easily stay under 20g of carbs per day while also getting all the nutrition you need: ■ Meat ■ Sea food ■ Eggs ■ Butter/Ghee ■ Salt ■ Water You can have the following foods in *_SMALL_* servings: ■ Low carb vegetables (mostly dark greens) ■ Dairy Avoid these foods if at all possible (it's literally better to fast than eat these if you have PCOS): ■ Grains, oats, rice, bread, pastries ■ Candies, sweets, treats ■ Alcohol, fruit juice, sugary drinks ■ High carb vegetables -- onions, carrots, etc ■ Fruit ■ Nuts, legumes, seeds ■ Seed oils If you decide to restrict your carbs to below 20g, be ready to experience sugar withdrawals (mistakenly called "keto flu"). You can expect to have headaches, low energy, intense cravings, mood swings, etc for a week or two at the start. There is nothing you can do about this -- it's like trying to quit smoking. You might also get incredible diarrhea if your gall bladder is weak. If you aren't producing enough bile, you will poop out any fat that your body couldn't process in time. This will pass in 1 to 3 weeks depending on the health of your gall bladder.

If you are going to try this, then be serious - really be certain your are staying under 20g carbs per day. The closer to 0g carbs per day you go, the faster you will heal. Staying under 20g per day is sufficient, though. Also, do not be afraid of eating animal fat. It is *_VERY_* important to eat animal fat because you will become very, very hungry and tired if you only eat low fat foods. Butter and ghee is excellent also. It will help keep you full and help you keep down your sugar cravings. *Do not restrict your calories!!* The only thing you need to restrict is the carbohydrates and natural and artificial sweeteners. In other words, if you are hungry, eat until you are truly satisfied - you can eat as much as you want so long as you stay under 20g carbs per day. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, let me know. I will do my best to help. If this does benefit you (I know that it will), be sure to tell your friends who also are struggling with PCOS. And, I'd youe doctor says you are crazy for trying this, ask them for the specific reasons why. Then report to me and we can discuss what they are concerned about. Peace and love to you.

Keep your carbohydrates under 20g per day. PCOS will resolve in one year. You will have regular periods in about two months. Focus on eating protein and fat, but avoid carbohydrates as much as possible. Be ready to experience sugar withdrawal symptoms for the first week or so -- headache, low energy, sudden intense cravings, etc. Also, if you are on medication, check with your doctor every month to see if you are ready to reduce your dosages.
