The more I listen The more I'm mesmerized She's one of the few who can really use her voice like an instrument musically while AT THE SAME TIME giving emphasis where the lyrics need it. It needs to be FULLY SUNG but also punched in all the right places rhythmically, as Steve would want it and yes I can understand EVERY WORD

angiejules: Shows have "Directors" and "Musical Directors". They set the tempo, along with the artists. I listened to this carefully and find no off-key notes, which I presume you mean by "all over the place'. Whatever "pitchy" is I leave to you and your voice teacher or choir director or whatever. When you have made your living as a top Broadway actress for 30 years, give us your opinion. 'Til then, hold it.

"But Iiiiiii at least gotta tryyyy" and other similar lines are sung SHARP (slightly above the appropriate pitch). I can hear it: some of notes are off pitch. Perhaps it's a feature of the recording. Lupone's vocal styling does not help either. She is notorious for slurring her words. Here it's actually remarkably good, only a little fast in a handful of places. Incredible performance overall. Acting 10/10, singing 9/10.

Well said, Kitty! Thanks for calling out the self-proclaimed "experts" who sit on their butts and take shots at some of our greatest performers. I fail to understand the need to make negative comments. If you don't like a certain performer, then watch one that you like. Save the commentary for Frank Rick and the other REAL experts.
