@sterlingmuse58086 жыл бұрын
garrison lee I haven't gotten to try Skyward Sword yet, but since I actually enjoy Sonic and the Black Knight, I'm probably with you there. However, it is still worth mentioning, for a simple reason: In general, gamers tend to dislike motion controls. This is a HUGE generalization, and by no means applies to everyone - but due to that, games with motion control tend to do less well than those without, from both a pure profit view and from a popularity view. There are many people who agree with you though, I see them on most videos about this game - but there just happen to be a bunch of loud people who dislike it, and don't know how to evaluate the other parts of the game while ignoring their one issue.
@dalejhunter17 жыл бұрын
Your points are tasteful and your reasons are acceptable. The main issue I have with Skyward Sword is the backtracking. Yes, other Zelda games have it, but here, its very glaring. How many times do you go to Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, and Lanayru Desert just to do simple plot progression? 3 times...each. I honestly don't mind Fi or Navi. People give them shit, but they do what they do best - be a partner to help the Legendary Hero. Its not my favorite Zelda game nor my top 5 favorite Zelda games. But I get enough enjoyment from it to at least give it more than one playthrough. Plus, I like the fight with Demise; felt like a real sword fight compared to...Ganondorf from Twilight Princess.

Yeah, the game is divisive by nature because of the controls and level design. Honestly, only complaining about the controls isn't really constructive. Egoraptor just has a bad habit of not knowing what he is talking about and how his jokes affect his fans. Man, he needs to have some balls and read the damn comments. He isn't evolving as much as a comedian (or critic) because of that! You know, being neutral towards a game is essential when analyzing it. Acting as a child isn't funny or constructive.
@byronlyons35487 жыл бұрын
Exactly, he should have as much balls as Danny, since he actually bothers with the comment sections. Even though there's some toxic ones out there, but he should just suck it up and go through them. Because there's some that's trying to give him a good constructive criticism about his routine and comedy, and how to improve upon them. If he doesn't learn and see other's views, he's not going to improve. But it sometimes doesn't help when his white knighters can't accept constructive criticism on their favorite youtuber, and just go blatantly call out anyone as haters or fanboys of other series or something.

Twilight Princess is far more than just Ocarina of Time with a wolf. Some people don't acknowledge this but it has plenty of originality that make it just as different from Ocarina as any other game in the series. It's like EarthBound to Mother 1. The game is similar but does things in a different and expanded upon way so it's not accurate to claim it as a rehash.

Skyward Sword had the timeshift stones, sand sea, and pirate ship dungeon though so it shoots through the roof with creativity whenever it has those at least.

I agree with creativity except for Twilight Princess. The wolf gimmick was pretty weak

I genuinely loved the way Super Paper Mario milked the wiimote. You did EVERYTHING special the new device could do in that game - targeting the screen, shaking, tilting, all that jazz...but only really to solve puzzles and generally with an idea of how each element should be used conveyed pretty clearly in advance.

Motion controls weren't a problem, fun parts at times, good story, but the length and some of the tedious parts of the game made this a one and done game for me. An HD version of this game wouldn't even get me hyped.

@Anime Master I know, but I think I was thrown off because this episode specifically was uploaded during a time in the day when I would have been at school if I had it while all of the others around that time were almost midnight in my time zone. So it didn't feel like a time zone difference. Assuming I remember correctly, which is certainly not guaranteed

He did briefly describe Fi as a tour guide, but yeah, I'm with you 100%. I hate Skyward Sword. And when I say that, people immediately try to start defending my controls, but the controls aren't my problem. Fi is my problem. I want to play a videogame, not have Fi take me on a guided tour. She thinks the player is so stupid that she even repeats something another character just told you as well. Impa tells you to go see the old woman in the temple, then Fi pops out and tells you that there's a 95% chance you should go see the old woman in the temple. *HEY NO FUCKIN' SHIT!* Impa just told me that, go the fuck away! The only good part of this game is when you drop your stuff during one of the Eldin Volcano revisits and Fi can't pester you because you lost the sword. You actually get to think for yourself, almost like a goddamn videogame! I don't even have the words to describe how sad I was when I finished that sequence, recovered my sword, and the game proudly boasted that I could talk to Fi again. I don't want to talk to Fi again. This is not a reward. This is not a reason to celebrate.

+mjc0961 that is the same problem i had with LEGO LOTR. i get it, LEGO games can be played by kids so they should not be too difficult, but LOTR can be beaten just by bothering to play the game. while combat in the LEGO games were always forgiving, the game basically tells you how to do the puzzles. need to switch characters? character portrait lights up. need to throw gimli to that breakable wall? gimli jumps up and down to get your attention (not to mention breakable spots are extremely obvious). also every time you need to use an item or exploit a character exclusive skill, the hint system reminds you. basically it leaves no room for thinking unless you like gathering collectibles. fun game to play, but it tends to go on autopilot at times (basically happens on on-rail sections as, unlike LEGO star wars, you do not reset to the last checkpoint after death, so you can just wait it out if you want to)

I think Fi is an okay sidekick, I personally don't think she made as much of an impact as Midna but they share one thing in common. They gave us two amazing musical pieces, Midna's Lament and Fi's Gratitude. I listen to these and they either both make me cry or fall asleep peacefully

Skyward Sword is one of the funniest game experiences I've had, I remember cursing the game until the end and when the credits rolled I just laughed and remember being unable to hate it, and well I've replayed it 5 times so I definitely sort of like it, idk what's up with it but it just hits the right chords enough times that I can't just dismiss it. But when I played it the first time I was in fanboy mode since it was at release and absolutely loved it, now I can say that Demise is a terrible boss (except actual Ganon demise he's cool) and the song fetch quest is literally filler but all in all I still really enjoy it as a game, and hopefully will replay it soon.

Was not expecting the return of the Metroid Prime 3 bit. "And thrust! Thrust! Thrust!" XD Anyways, beautiful game with a few cool things here and there. Also, no hate towards SS but even after seeing this review and currently watching Chuggaa play it, I still wouldn't play it. It's one of those games I'd rather watch than play. TP also didn't drag as much as SS did IMO. And BOTW is a different beast only because of all the freedom it gives me. Love that! So, I can't wait for that review. ^^

I wonder how many would love this game more if they made a remake and fix some of its problems like putting in more side quests, allow you to use a normal controller or motion controller on the Switch, or for the fun of it add some hidden dungeons that are not part of the quest but as a side quest, add more places in the sky islands, and maybe fix up a couple of the boss fights. I think if Nintendo would remake this game in HD and use the ideas I had the game might become a hit like Wind Waker HD was. I would still rate the game as is a 8 out of 10 because I have seen far worst games that got a 7 out of 10, even though the game has a lot of flaw it is still a good game, and it is also a lot of peoples most favorite Zelda game. I see why some people hate and some people love it, but as my personal opinion I think got a lot more hate than it deserved.

while i do agree that late game drags on i still love this game the chemistry between link and zelda, Fi is my favorite companion character in the series, some of the best dungeon and bosses in the series, and of course groose. but it's flaws are there but that's how I know i love a game if it's flawed and i still enjoy it to it's fullest even my favorite games ever i have some pretty major issues with though if I said they'd sound more like nitpicking

I guess I'm lucky then. I'm left handed too but the game does a good job on helping you adapt to the controls so I loved playing it. Maybe it's because I'm used to play Wii games with right handed controls idk. I agree that they could've had an option for lefties tho

I played the game left-handed anyway. I don't think it created any additional issues to those already present with the general motion controls. It is annoying not to have the option, though. Especially since Link was left-handed in the first place.

The game is fun if you dont analyze it too much and play it just for enjoyment. I was really sceptic of the game and didnt play it for 5 years after its release and then decided to play it because I had too play every 3d zelda game. In my experience its really immersive and thouroughly enjoy almost every aspect of it. of course it has its flaws but definitivly a classic in my eyes.

Would you ever look at Okami? It's like Twilight Princess except you're always a wolf and the combat is slightly watered down Bayonetta... Well l made it sound bad but I honestly prefer it to all 3D Zelda games.

Why don't you go meet him and donate him it? That's probably the only way you'll see him play it, I'd imagine he's going to be burned out from Zelda type games after this marathon and he has plans to do Kingdom Hearts and some other things later this year.
@calebbrown617 жыл бұрын
If he does I'd say he should play the HD version on PS3, have you tried playing the PS2/Wii version on an HD TV? Looks pretty fuzzy and gross, but it's a consequence of the artstyle. Would still be really interesting to have him check that game out, and also the very underrated DS sequel which to me is one of the most impressive DS games ever made.

I love this as a backstory to the LOZ series. Honestly this makes it my absolute favorite, and has a bunch of my favorite mechanics like crafting upgrades, the first hints of cooking (which becomes better in BOTW), the beetle is the best item ever, and I liked the motion control combat after I realized it was meant to be slow and precise not rapid like everyone was trying to make it.
