It's interesting how if you choose the "Love for Pokémon" topic when interacting with Volo in the Trainer Lodge, you'd get only a small amount of points. Most of us already know who Volo really is. But for people who somehow haven't played P:LA or got spoiled about its story, that's a nice foreshadowing that there will be a version of Volo later down the line with no nice guy facade.

I believe this Volo is actually after the final battle in PLA, because he knew to not encounter Rei too early. I won't be surprised he has a spare Togepi and Gible around to not make others too suspicious to him. I mean, Silver actually brought out all 8 pokemon on screen he has at the same time on Pasio. Nobody but Rei (and maybe Akari?) knew about Volo's true colours. Btw, it turns out that he's slowly getting used to a phone, and he... Actually stalks your player like a stalker he is, but now he takes pictures of you. I'm genuinely curious on what Volo will do to both Rei and unsurprisingly, your MC (since there's a theory that your mc will be paired with Arceus itself). Side note, this 3rd arc surprisingly has confirmed that Clemont did help with the creation of Rotom Dex in Alola. Btw, if anyone is unaware on how to unlock these stories in Masters, collect 100 Mysterious Stones per chapter. Yes, per chapter, but you can exchange for goodies after that and they calculate according to the total you had collected and not just currently in the bag.

One disturbing theory could be that Volo got rid of his original team after he failed to defeat Rei, only keeping the offspring of his Togekiss to start fresh. He manipulates people constantly. It wouldn't be a stretch to say he does the same to Pokemon.

I don’t think that’s entirely true. You’re correct that Volo is a masterful manipulator but why would he want to get rid of powerful Pokémon just because he lost? Like the fact catching pokemon back then was incredibly dangerous, doesn’t make much sense get rid of them after all the trouble of catching and raising them. I mean he could have just caught a new Togepi and easily gained its trust considering the fact it’s still a naive baby and hid his actual team to not draw attention to himself.

You can’t really fake friendship with a Pokémon. If Game Freak wanted Volo to be pure evil they wouldn’t have given him the Togepi and Riolu lines. It’s why Ghetsis has no Pokémon that evolve through friendship, in fact in Black and White 2 his Hydreidon has Frustration at max power, a move that only becomes more powerful the more a Pokémon dislikes their trainer. He is also the only opponent to have this which just shows how vile Ghetsis really is.

Side note fact Crobat is used by Maxie, Archie and Cyrus means even evil can have bonds, Giovanni having mega mewtwo is evidence too with his sync moves. Since we see villains use sync moves that require connections, maybe it's like master servant relationship of trust than friendship we see with Ghetsis and kyurem.

genuinely terrified at the idea of Volo asking N if he can talk with basically the gods, consdering I don't think it would be out of character for Volo to commit a kidnapping for his goals, and we already had N kidnapped in the Plasma villain arc, they need to leave my favorite guy alone 💀 I find it interesting N deflects some as well in regards to Volo asking about his ability to talk to the gods, considering its pretty much confirmed he can talk to both all the Unova dragons, but implied to have talked to Giratina and Dialga alongside Iris as well. perhaps its him showing caution due to how Ghetsis manipulated him in the past for the Unova dragons multiple times, along with N likely having trust issues with people suddenly having interest in such a responsibility such as being with legendaries. I really hope that in this story N shows up as a main player beyond what we already saw, the concept alone of Volo Vs N is genius

I know that PoMas loves doing a whole lot of bait and fanservice, and I know I'm falling for it, but man, I can't help myself. Once Adaman and Irida opened the door for Hisui characters to be added to the game, I KNEW Volo would be added eventually and there wasn't a doubt in my mind that he would be immediately added to the Trainer Lodge. Shoving him together with N, another extremely popular character, is transparent fanservice at its finest but even being completely aware of this doesn't make me any less excited. :DeNA knew perfectly well that they could put a _Togepi with Metronome_ in the sync pair scout and thousands of people would still pull for it. They know exactly what they're doing. And I do too. And you know what, I love it. I can't wait for him to find out Cynthia is paired with Giratina.
