I have also had a tumor, it formed around my spine, and pinched my nerves to the point of me nearly becoming paralyzed. I had no bowel control, couldn't walk. Took doctors 7 years to figure out I had a tumor. Since removed, I have gotten my life back thankfully. Tumors are horrible, something so small, can completely destroy us. Thank you for the story Lao!

Matthew, I wish you the very best. When the story started all I could think about was my son's journey with Hodgkins lymphoma which presents with a growth in the neck. My wife is currently dealing with breast cancer and I have COPD. Mortality stares us all in the face. Thankfully my son is in his 11th year of remission; my wife's case loooks manageable and my own situation is under control. We have no guarantees on life, and must live every day to the fullest.

I got cancer when I was 46. I definitely wasn't expecting that. I also woke up during a surgery removing a chemo port. That was scary as well, as they had my face covered and didn't realize I was awake. I was totally paralyzed from the anesthesia and had no pain, but was aware of everything going on. These do change your perspective on things. Stay healthy and have a great holiday season.

I low key suspect they didn't miss it, they just didn't tell him the truth so the tumor would progress enough that they could charge a massive bill for surgery later on. You've personally helped instilled a passion for culture and people in me, i never knew China was such a rad place, really because i never really knew what the people of China really had in store. There seems to be endless stories, traditions, food, and much more. I've never been so inspired to go talk to people and connect with them. I also love how you guys conduct your channels and content, always stressing to seperate the state from the people. You guys genuinely seem love China for what it can be, and the good people who live there, and i cannot thank you enough for not only coming from a place of love, but just trying your hardest everyday too to share the harsh realities a lot of people get paid to cover up whether they know it or not. You are doing this world an honorable favor and, i guess thats why this was so hard to hear, and why i would like to share my thanks. I dont know if you'll read this, but at first watching this i began to think theres a chance we were losing you, and my fucking god would there be a hole in the world without you. Thank you, i hope you stay safe and get to spend some time with friends and family, although it seems like you're putting all your effort into these next videos and with knowing what you went through and mentally may be going through, id like to say i understand and cant argue. Just dont overwork yourself too man ❤ thanks again for what you do, and for letting your humanity shine. Its truly the people that made your stay in china it appears, and i will take this with me in life. I love people, i love stories, but trust has been a bitch to grapple with. Caring about fairness, and making efforts even though it’s likely that bullies won’t change, and making aggression costly and risky for aggressors even though people who resist first are often wounded or ended… I pray we all stand up and showcase non-compliance even if we can’t prevail. Ultimately losing is likely, and getting pushed into exit-ing the debate early has been known to happen. But we mustn’t make it easier or consequence-free for humans to hurt one another: not their bodies, nor their rights, nor their dignity.

@@mollykeane2571 everytime doctors have to aproximately calculate the dose of sedatives needed to keep a person sedated for a certain amount of time The neccessary amount does vary depending on size, age and other factors Too much can be deadly and too little will result in you waking up too early There is always a risk that your body will respond somewhat different than the calculation expects For example; how much alkohol can a person drink before collapsing? Mostly depends on the size/mass of the person that's why women are generally worse at enduring alkohol than men But there are sometimes women with high tolerance and can drink even more than some men Basically you can be resistent to drugs/poison ect or even build some tolerance to them and it's hard to tell when and how that will happen or if you have someehat special tolerance to sedatives

I don't feel like the culmination merited so much drama and buildup. Not that I'm unsympathetic . . . if this really happened. (I hadn't noticed that he was suffering so much physical trauma in his recent videos.) It's just that my tribe does not appreciate people embellishing health challenges this much. When Matt concluded this drama with a cliffhanger ending it felt like this might be a con-job for channel views. His credibility has taken a hit in my eyes. I get so happy whe I see a Laowhy86 notification come up, because you know out of 99% of channels focusing on International topics, let alone China, you are going to get a video that's well researched, passionate, and of sheer substance. I got hooked on this channel when I saw a video years ago of a dodgy trip to an obscure village in the sticks where he and his friends over heard 2 men setting up a hit. While the quality has improved over the years, and the message has been refined by experience, the overall raw essence of your work has been what what keeps us coming back, and your love of the country and people you lived with are made real to us, the audience. I have appreciated cmilk's content for years but it has become so influenced by the youtube sensationalist formula that I enjoy it less and less every time. I loved watching him and serpentza wizzing around china and hanging with the locals. However that is a long time gone. If you want to talk about health issues - label it so. I will watch it and sympathise and wish you well. But this telling us we MUST talk about something that happened and then not doing exactly that is annoying AF. This was 15 minutes of pure click bait annoyance. Time to unsubscribe..

The one thing that struck me during this video, is the potential for pollution and contamination interaction with our bodies. Years spent in a heavily polluted area can become the precursor to these things(we see clusters next to bus terminals, etc..). You have talked about pollution , as well as corporate greed leading to contaminants in products like food products, so this may be a time to touch on that again. It is good that you got to see the right help and took care of this issue. Stay strong and have it reviewed every year for the next 5-10 years. Good luck.

Funnily enough, in China, it would have been CT scanned on the same day and removed a week later. Yeah yeah, the country has a different political regime etc etc. But you get to see a hospital specialist same day, get CT or even MRI the same day for like less than 200 bucks. I live in a country with socialised medicine and while it's great for the old and long term sick, you have to let things get so bad for so long before anything is done, so every time I go back to see family, I make trips to the hospital and dental clinics to literally get all the diagnosis and preventative work done in less than a week

I miss the old days of ADVChina adventures. Back when I was naive about the reality of China and was watching with fascination. It was a sad journey of discovery with you guys, seeing the reality. But I am so glad I was there the whole time. I now know the truth, which is what I aspire to learn about everything I can. It's just so crazy that so many people are so oblivious to the reality of China despite the plethora of content available right here on yours and SerpentZA's channel as well as the others you guys created. You guys are better journalists than almost every professional journalist in America. You've humanized the Chinese people while exposing their fantastically awful government. Why you guys aren't on national TV spreading the truth and instead we have pure propaganda being pushed at every level is absurd to me. I can only assume people don't want to know the truth. Sadly America has devolved into a tribalistic shitshow that is on the path to becoming more like China. But we still have a chance because of people like you that put your safety and livelihood on the line in order to inform us of the truth. Thank You. Glad things worked out for you man. Both with your tumor and getting out of China before they disappeared you. Keep up the good work. One day the work you have done to expose the truth will be recognized as it should be. But until then, myself and all your fans will keep watching your content and becoming more aware of the truth.

Same. Things have changed a lot after Xi took power. I was contemplating starting a business with a really good friend in China. I was wary at first because I grew up in communist Romania, but my friend managed to show me things were not as terrible as I feared (in terms of authoritarianism). One thing I also learned from them: A lot of why their ADVChina adventures paint a different picture of China than its image today is that it was in fact quite a bit different back then; there was some degree of liberalization a decade ago, but in the last few years Xi Jinping has lurched the country strongly back toward Maoist rule.
