Dexcool caused quite a bit of problems when it first came out as the engines/gaskets weren't made for it, which is why everyone switched to green and it wasn't a huge deal.. but over the years, the formula was changed, and engines/gaskets have been upgraded as well and now most newer(04-05) GM vehicles it's almost imperative to use Dexcool. Personally, I'd flush it, put green in it, and call it a day. Also, I vote for keeping the stock wheels with the white wall tires. Keeping that big profile tire will help keep that legendary big cadillac ride

As a car enthusiast all my life and a life long Caddy lover, especially the older ones, I love originality, definitely keep the OEM wheels, and put some white wall tires on her. The older Cadillacs look better with white wall tires. The only ones that looks ok with black walls are the sport trim models, but a classic Fleetwood, no big goofy rims, it takes away the character of the model.

In my opinion, I would recommend keeping the factory wheels and the whitewalls on the Cadillac. It's a very nice car. In my opinion, keeping it factory would be the best way to have it.

Would be an easy one to get carried away on! I’d keep the OE wheels, go with whitewalls and then see if a u-pull has a good dash pad and wood piece to the left of the cluster, fix those and a good detail that thing would look top notch!

Randy back in the day my 79 Coupe deVille ran like Florida in August when I lived back North in Pennsylvania. I had that Prestone T hook up for the 5/8 line if I remember correctly and every 6 months I would drain the system and hook up the water hose to that T. I would idle the car for about an hour with the cold water running throughout my engine and water pump and heater core and also the water jackets for the engine block. What a difference of course I was turning wrenches full time and actually enjoyed working on my car after work at work. I had replaced the radiator water pump heater core after I bought the car because it looked like what you have to deal with now. That car ran so silky smooth you could put a wine glass on the air cleaner at idle. Sure do miss that old girl she ran awesome. Great Video Thank You 🙏!!

Yeah I'm gonna say that dexcool back in the late 90s were havoc on the intake or head gaskets. I had a 96 chevy truck with the 350 vortec and I put that mix with any color antifreeze in it and had to replace the intake gaskets on it and I had no other problems with it after I flushed the whole system

Hey Randy. My first comment on your videos! Yay! I daily drive my 88 Deville and i would totally keep (even though they are aging) those original wheels for sure. I'm sure the bigger tires help its ride stay soft and whitewalls look awesome on them. Dont even have to be vogues. But i would try for at least one inch whitewalls. Just my opinion. Anything you choose will likely be awesome. Id love to see you keep it for a while. They are awesome cars. Very finicky, but awesome. I'd sell everything else first and keep all the cadillacs 🙂

I bought a 1995 Ford Ranger and found out afterwards that the heater didn't work at all. Found the heater core 100% clogged. tried hooking the garden hose to it at max and not one drop would flow through. I poured pure radiator flush into the heater hoses and left that i. there for a few weeks, then flushed it again. it cleared out and worked great ever since with no leaks.

24:03. You're damn right Randy. I've kept many friends who are on total opposites on politics. It's not worth throwing away 2, 5, 10+ years of friendship over something so trivial. If you enjoy hanging out with someone, it don't matter what they believe in! And yes, I agree with the whitewalls and keeping the factory rims. What kind of whitewalls are you getting? The cheapest whitewalls with the best quality are the Hankook Optimos. They have GREAT whitewalls.

Add the prestone flush once more with the green crap or the universal yellow crap then put the factory orange crap in the coolant tank for the final fill and unbolt the expansion tank and give it a super rinse do the preventive work like a thermostat if cheap. Wheels leave or if a newer caddy has the same bolt pattern with a larger diameter go that route.

Just a thought, I wonder how a many times you "threw" 🤔 refrigerant in your home refrigerator? If I'm right, NEVER, right? Cars on the other hand have neoprene gaskets and tend to let gas out of the system if the car defroster oŕ a/c is not run for at least 5 minutes a month to keep the seals from leaking! Now you also mentioned the car sat for 12 years 🙄 ouch. Also cars do not eat refrigeran its called a "leak" in your system. You got to find the leak n fix the leak. PS. Get some ivory liquid soap n put some on all your a/c conceptions n when u see bubbles emerging tighten then down. Keep doing th we m all. I'm glad I found your channel n yes I love those body on frame caddilacts especially wi t h the LT 1 engine. Take care.

The best thing to get rid of rust in your coolant system is evapor rust now it works great I use it my 87 Jeep Cherokee cuz my coolant look like that too no matter how many times they flushed it it just turn to that mud color again but I use evaporus ran it for the system flush it out put green coolant in and never turned brown again when the engine was empty of coolant I looked inside it looks like someone sandblasted the inside of the coolant system it was awesome the block had no rust in it that stuff is amazing try it it'll fix that car's problem

On those flush kits, I use a short piece of hose on one side and attach the other end to the heater hose. That way there isn’t any splice, just remove the T and the short piece of hose when done. As far as wheels go, only replace them if your keeping the car for a long time. I’ve never got my money back out of custom wheels when selling. The future buyer may have a different idea of what wheels are cool. 😎

check the interior for a leak, i've seen heater cores let go after a flush since the clog was blocking the leak (happens with welsh plugs aswel) and a much more effective system flush to use is simple washing powder, remove the thermostat add a cup of washing powder and run it for an hr cleans the whole damn system!

good old gm dex kill lol they really did not get the dex-cool right till much later in it life and you still have to say on-top of it change it every 5 years or it gets nasty. on the early dex-cool vehicles i go back with a good universal green or yellow coolant which ever i can get but i always make sure before because the system is always very dirty that it’s clean because there’s a reason i call it dex kill and it earned that name because of those pellets, you mentioned and blocked coolant passages, causing severe overheating in some cases without knowledge causing damage to the engine in some cases so it’s important you clean that system really well to get it out what you’re seeing is not just rust. It’s a mixture of rust and the broken down parts of the dex cool itself probably a mix of coolant like you said it’s really bad stuff and they didn’t get it right till the 2000s so it’s good you’re doing this but make sure you get it clean super clean water it takes forever because the sludge that builds up anyway if you’re going to keep the car i have had really good luck and no problems with any coolant the oem dexcool is fine as long as you change it on the service intervals, which I believe is 50,000 miles or five years i personally use the yellow coolant when i can but my 2003 suburban is still running dexcool i would use yellow it’s cheaper

Is certainly possible ,with the bigger wheels only if it doesn't effect the ride often when you go with those 26inches wheels you can lose who well it rides the comfort level especially a Cadillac. However the 26inches, will bring a much newer look to it instead of looking it's age of course ,the 26 inches wheels alot of younger guys will likely what it with the newer look. AND CERTAINLY much affordable than let say one on a car lot ,dealership don't have affordable cars, new or used. and you factor in trying to put insurance on cars it's crazy really dude as hell.

Do NOT use green coolant in there. You want to stick with a coolant that is chemically similar to DexCool to stop of from turning into a gel. Some forums recommend VW G12+ Coolant in these cars as it is allegedly chemically the same as DexCool but it is allegedly more chemically stable and better at preventing rust. Also, for the rim upgrade, consider newer Cadillac rims
