@@ToolsandTargets i've heard rumors that black-tipped ammo is the armor-piercing kind, is that true?? I only ask this, is because a buddy I know (who's a big gun guy like I am) had once fired some black-tipped ammo, but ended up saving the unused rounds after being notified that it's the nasty armor-piercing kind.

@@DrQuagmire1 A lot of armor piercing rounds do have a black painted tip. These are just a polymer ballistic tip. I have a few .30-06 armor piercers that someone gave me a while back.

The reason the CorBon is a "weird" bullet weight for .40cal is because its solid copper AND it has that big wide open hollowpoint. Solid copper projectiles will be lighter than a lead-core projectile of a similar size and volume because copper is less dense than lead. That's why Barnes' rifle bullets are called "light" for caliber, a 127gr LRX from Barnes is almost the exact same size and profile as a 140gr ELD bullet from hornady. Copper bullets will be lighter than their lead cored counterparts if their length (and diameter obviously) are the same.

Tools, that Fiocchi 12 gauge is not 00buck, it's 9 pellets of 1buck! That's why the velocity is so low. I'm not sure if Fiocchi loaded the smaller pellets by mistake or if they were trying to make a low-recoil/lower power load... I suspect thats why if you look closely it doesn't actually say "00 buck" anywhere on it. My local shop had 25 round boxes for $15... I bought 2 boxes just to have it. I read someone on a forum say its too weak to cycle a semi-auto shotgun, but that it shoots and groups pretty nice for the money. Just to save you the head-scratching later on! Look at a shell, the crimp is pushed WAY inward and the pellets aren't stacked like you'd expect 9 00buck pellets to stack.

Yeah, I noticed the smaller pellets after I was looking at it later on. I have no doubt it will cycle any semi-auto I have though. I've run sub 1200fps target load through my semi-autos with no problem.

@@ToolsandTargetsmight caliper some of them. Next to Flite Control, the Fiocchi OO 9 pellet load has been about the best patterning stuff I’ve found from my 1301. But same number of pellets at the same velocity of the OO load with a different pellet size??? Makes no sense. And it doesn’t give a shot size on Fiocchi’s website, either.

@@ToolsandTargets funny you should mention that, because I had tried some Federal Premium Target loads clocked in at 1145-FPS (as far as muzzle velocity goes) in my Benelli M2, and they cycled through with no problems, although I did notice the lower recoiling on them. good for a day at the range, but I like the hotter stuff (like 1200+ FPS) for the better cycling

0:42. Bro. I wish ammo companies sell their ammo in packs like that. I'll just call them,"Butter packs". The idea for me is that keep them in butter packs so I can stored as much as I can inside my ammo can without pouring into the ammo cans and if there's any recall I can just look at the packs.

Im excited to see the 7.62×39 AAC and also i keep monarch #1 buck loaded in my 20 gauge for defensive purposes it's a pretty good 20 gauge load.. it's the closest thing to 00 buck i could find in 20 gauge.. the shell says it's 2.75" but it's really in between a 2.75" & 3" and I didn't even know PSA was loading the black tip stuff in 308 i need to get some of that stuff one day too

I like the assortment. It's like a preview of up coming jelly test. Locally I have been picking up ammo to feed a new tool. Besides that I did find leverevolution in both 45 Colt & 44 mag that I couldn't find last year for deer season.

Those first 2 are awesome finds! I can tell you wwwaaayyy back in the day I had a bunch of that Norma 170 and 200gr 10mm. And I shot a bunch out of my old 5" Delta Elite. Then I started hearing all the horror stories (in the gun rags)of it cracking frames and relegated the colt to the then new 155gr Hornady XTP. About a year later I acquired an AMT Javelina 7" long slide and that thing digested several cases of that Norma stuff. So did my S&W 1006. Comparatively got stuff compared to the 155gr, and it sure seemed hot at the time but I think you're going to be disappointed when you shoot it. I didn't have a Chrono back in the day, but a few years ago I picked up 2 partial boxes for cheap money and chronographed it from a 5" 1911 and the 200gr load averaged a little under 1100 fps and had some pretty big ES. Now I will say that the boxes were pretty faded and in rough shape so it may have been due to degradation from improper storage. But who really knows. You know what they say, never meet your heroes......

I think you're right. Even if it managed to hit the box numbers through my G20(which is pretty much guaranteed not to happen) it's already weaker than some other 10mm I've tested. I can see it being another case of the legend performing better than the actual round.

Nice haul Tools, got some cool retro stuff and new offerings. I think AAC (Palmetto State Armory) will sell every round of ammo they can manage to produce. I am also of the opinion they will even force other manufacturers to lower prices on their ammo. AAC could become a HUGE supplier of ammo.

I'm not a fan of the 10mm, but I'm excited about that Norma ammunition. That was the first 10mm ammo I ever saw. I never shot any of it. I'm anxious to see how it does.

That Norma 10mm was the first 10mm that I ever bought and you're correct, I bought it for my Colt Delta Elite. I made a 108 yard shot on a 3"x 10" piece of PVC pipe, using that ammo. And NO, it wasn't on the first shot. It took me 3 or 4 shots. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Wow, what a nice haul! Those old-school Norma 10mm boxes *really* got my attention! And here I am just tickled to death to have walked into my local Academy today and found some Winchester Super X .410 slugs and some Hornady Critical Defense .410 with the .41 calibre slug and the .35 calibre shot pellets! Hey, .410's tough to place hands on these days!

I found some similar Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 12 gauge for a similarly amazing price while visiting relatives in Wyoming, same specs on the box that you have (box is nearly identical as well) but the ones I got have blue translucent cases and are high brass shells, it was a couple years ago. Haven't fired any of them yet, so will be interesting to see what results you get from it. That Norma 10mm is pretty neat, I think that's some of the earliest available 10mm ammo. Even better that you have hollowpoints. They would look good with my Smith & Wesson 1006 from the early 1990s, though we'll see how well they actually perform when you test them.

20 gauge buckshot can recoil pretty hard (lighter gun). S&B Favorit throws 12 #2 pellets at 1247 fps. Low recoil but gets the job done!

Nice ammo score should be some interesting test coming up can't wait especially the rifle ammo Also it's a shame to not to test fmj I get jelly test is not that useful but perhaps you could come up with some kind of barrier test wood blocks ,or ceramic with or without jell behind it maybe use old jell you were going to get rid of so you don't have to worry about picking out debris and get one more test out of old jell.more tests more data more better looking forward to tomorrow test👍👍

@ToolsandTargets I run a 10.5 barrel and I think most ppl would prefer to see it ran out of a shorter barrel like 8 to 10 inches. I'm sure these rifle tests are more time consuming being you can't get as many shots in the gel blocks. May be cool to see the 300blk 125gr compared to the 7.62 ×39 123gr? I'm sure whatever way you come up with the test that will be cool no matter what

The reason manufacturers are soft-loading 10mm and phasing out tools for 357SIG is the same reason 9PBLE and 9mm/115gr +p+ GD are restricted. Now ask yourself who does that protect? If you look at views 357SIG is right up there in terms of popularity.

weird, my 7.62x54r black tip isn't polymer...heh I agree the .357 sig is on it's last leg, I would argue that it's always been on it's last leg. Trying to keep that .40 cal relevant. I do like the .357 sig ballistics more than I like the .40 though.

I don't think I've tested x39 Core-Lokt. My guess would be a bit less fragmentation from the Core Lokt based on what I've seen from it in .308. I did test the Black Tip fairly close though(28 yards). The x39 Black Tip video should be up on Sunday afternoon.😎👊

I've already tested them at 28 yards, but I got plenty left. I can tell you with about 99.99% certainty based on what I saw at 28 yards from two barrel lengths, these would do a beautiful job at 50 with expansion and penetration. Video should be uploaded Sunday if YT doesn't mark it as too scary.😆
