I get so angry every time I hear parents not believing their children! If my child told me about a lifeguard locking them in a sauna (or anywhere else for that matter), heads would ROLL!!! I trust my children and they trust me to have their backs, to stand up for them when they can't do so for themselves. I take that responsibility very seriously. I'm their mother - if they can't count on me, who can they count on?!

I totally agree. Sometimes I feel like it's part denial, that makes parents do that, though. They just don't want to go there mentally where someone would purposely try to hurt their kids. And well, in the 90s and earlier people had more trust in other people in general.

I believe that’s what police call an opportunistic killer. They’re some of the hardest ones to catch, and often go undetected because they seemingly have no motive. It’s also the reason why the victim, if without physical proof, is often brushed aside. Just imagine someone telling you this random guy tried to kill them, and gives you an insane story, but they look unharmed (because they were lucky to get away unharmed). It can be hard to believe. And it’s absolutely terrible for the surviving victims.

The lifeguard story was probably the most unnerving, horrifying story I’ve ever heard on here. Being a mom it really struck a nerve. I can just picture this in my head and the thought of her trying to purposely kill those little girls (while staring directly at them and maintaining eye contact the entire time) is absolutely chilling and gut wrenching.

Well the tennis lesson one was a different time, they wanted their girls ignorant to all things sex related. I hate when parents don't believe their children. As a mother myself, I can tell when my child is sick or scared or worried without even asking or being told. I can tell if something happened to him. It amazes me how a parent can hear their children say someone has done something to them and they just brush them off. And then the parents wonder why their children grow up to never tell them anything. Always believe your kids or any kid, even if you're proven wrong, believe them first. Because 9 times out of 10 something is happening to them.

I don’t remember what movie it was, but a kid in the movie screwed up. They did something bad at school, and when the news got back to their parents, (I believe it was the dad, but could be the mom) the dad went to the school with their kid, and defended the kid until the end. They accepted the punishment, but supported their kid and never ganged up on them with the principle. When they got home, the dad turn around with a face we’ve probably all seen on someone. That, I’m not mad, just disappointed face. Then had a long discussion with the kid about what had happened, why the kid reacted that way, why the kid was in the wrong, and how to better deal with the situation next time. I believe the situation was more ambiguous, like the kid was being bullied, but had physically attacked the other student so that’s why they were in the wrong (the bullies never hurt the kid physically). I imagine it’s hard to understand why the kid being bullied would be wrong then, especially for the parent and kid themself. So I just thought it was really awesome how the father handled the situation, even if it was in a movie.
@cole_thecowboy
@cole_thecowboy Жыл бұрын
In most subtle cases I believe that the child is overreacting or just doesn’t have a full grasp on the situation, though as a parent you should never just brush it off, you should listen to the kid. And as you said you can tell when something is serious, though it’s not often that it happens.

The story about the lifeguard had me questioning myself as I was a female lifeguard at a YMCA and had to stop people from holding breathing contests in the shallow end under the clock. I also let minors go in the sauna for just a minute to warm up under my watchful eye. Every step of the story was me questioning, "Was that me? Is this story about me?" As soon as it was revealed the guard messed with the the thermostat, I could finally breathe easy and rest in the knowledge it wasn't me. I then had to skip the rest of the story as it hit waaaay too close to home. 😅 Edit: spelling

The YMCA my boyfriend and I frequent advises that adults (no one under the age of 18 are allowed in the saunas) should only stay in there for 15 minutes. OP and her cousin sound like they were going through heat illness. That lifeguard knew what she was doing, and it sounded like she wanted to get back at them for, in her screwy mind, disregarding her authority. It disappoints me that parents still disregard what their children say, especially if it was about them getting harmed. It scares me that someone that cruel (the lifeguard) has access to children.

I'm more worried about the fact that they said the dog looked like it had given birth recently and no one looked for puppies.😔

I wish that people who were cruel to Animals and kids could be given the same treatment. For example, lock the lifeguard in a sauna...make the dog fighters fight, with eachother, etc. Sadly, we don't live in a fair world...

when I was like 7 my dad told me if anyone tried to pick me up from school, I had to ask them what my dad's favorite song was and the answer had to be listen to the music by the doobie brothers. the situation never came up and my dad was barely involved in my life anyway, but at least he was concerned for my safety lol

Story 2- For real though, what WAS the endgame?? It's not like she knew those kids personally. And even if she did, it STILL wouldn't have made what that "lifeguard" did right

Also scary is the fact that the scumbags in these stories are our co-workers, neighbors, and maybe friends and relatives. Most of them are mostly decent, just preying (in one sense or another) on some people sometimes.

For the first, that kid was most likely a psychopath in the making. Even if it is just a frog, that's how it starts.

I hate hate hate parents who don't believe their kids. Omg if someone would have tried to kill me my dad or mom would have killed them. They ALWAYS believed me.

1st, BELIEVE YOUR CHILDREN WHEN THEY SAY SOMETHING HAPPENED!! 2nd, WHY send a younger female to walk out another female who is scared/being followed? What if the employee was grabbed from that dark parking lot instead? If there are no male employees to do it, CALL THE COPS INSTEAD! Ugh 🤦🏽‍♀️

😩 I have a crippling fear of frogs... I was zoned out till I heard the part about a "terrified frog" and cutting it up...I fast-forwarded so fast!! Wellp... All I can say is I'm glad there's a little tune that plays at the end of every story 🙂

Story 2: We believe you, OP. That lifeguard is a psychopath and your parents are awful for not believing you. If that lifeguard still works there, please report her before she can harm any more innocent children. I doubt you were her first or last victims.
