Verbal and psychological abuse is some of the worst abuse to experience. You really just become nervous for anything that someone can say to you. Like you know if you say something even just “wrong” it can make you feel uneasy and fear backlash. I’m glad that they did what was best and blocked his parents. Along with his family that wanted them to “talk to them”. I hope they’re doing so much better now!

@mlbashanti88852 жыл бұрын
This makes me feel sad to say, but I believe I am mentally abusive. My wife noticed sign fairly early in our relationship but I never believed her. We have been married for 4 years and she is supposed to stop everything while it's happening and tell me it's going on. Takes me a few mins to break it but I always realize she isn't lying. I love her so much and would never do anything to intentionally hurt her. I have been diagnosed as bipolar and BPD so she deals with alot. I just hate that I make her suffer and have to hear her say "babe you're being mentally abusive right now". And tbh when I hear her say that, it sets me off and I apparently go in even harder before I have the self awareness to finally stop. I'm very grateful that she deals with it and helps me through but I'm sure it's very hard for her. She also tells me to stop being dads name jr because she knows how my dad is. I hate that I took after him. But her and my dad have a great relationship in person. She just knows I'm like him.
@Jesswithlessstress2 жыл бұрын
@@mlbashanti8885 you are very mature for dealing with this with self awareness. BPD is no joke but can be treated and with support. It sounds like you are willing to work on things and have a supportive significant other. You sound like you are doing a lot to make self improvements. I hope you continue with this open and honest approach and wish you the best in life!

Unfortunately it’s because you see more of that than anyone likes to admit. There are also lots of sketchy people around actions like that, and you learn that the possible consequences for you are much worse than what the criminal will get. OH MY GOD the “Mrs. Psycho” story PERFECTLY describes my ex’s mother. The creepy behavior, the abusive/controlling personality, the wild stories she made up about literally every person who’d ever wronged her, the relationship being really nice at first and then rapidly going downhill, the lengthy emails, the social media dramatics, the beaten down husband, even the black eyes that seemed to change color whenever she heard something she didn't like… I’m actually kinda wondering if the MIL in this story is the same person. There are just _too_ many similarities. She never became my MIL, though, because she freaked out and turned on a dime as soon as she realized she wasn’t going to be able to control or manipulate me. We were young, and my gf was still living with “Mrs. Psycho” at the time and ended up breaking things off because she couldn’t handle her mom’s abuse anymore, like she wasn’t going to get a second of peace from her mom until our relationship was over.

Omg me too! Shocking behaviour, and so good at shifting the blame to anyone but herself.. turned out my ex had learnt from the best. I'm glad the lady with the Mrs Psycho ML's husband sided with HER and that they both decided to break off with his parents. Probably the healthiest thing they could do, not only for themselves but for their family. I could see, for example, the ML maybe turning their kids against them, or using them as pawns or even taking them hostage in some way. I think the woman in probably right in thinking that Mr Psycho had been emotionally beaten to death, and simply complied to keep peace. It sounds like the husband, thankfully, grew up to be a much healthier person than COULD have happened. His brother, on the other hand, may have not fared as well. Let's hope he realizes that his mom is a manipulative nutcase. Also very happy that the neighborhood realized that the mother-in-law was messed up, making the smear campaign kind of ricochet onto HER. I feel bad for their new neighbors (to whatever state they moved to) since I have a feeling people like that ALWAYS need to be in control, always need to have SOMEONE to manipulate, to blame. Sad that ONE PERSON can do so much harm to those around them.

Story 11 explains my mother so much. Been no contact for 4 years thank god. The ironic thing is I am fairly confident my mother has borderline PD (she won’t ever seek help tho bc she’s a narcissist, so I won’t ever know for sure); when I heard that the MIL accused the DIL of having BPD, I had to laugh/scoff. The projection from narcissists is so absurd. I, like the son, wasn’t always aware of my mothers behavior, and I myself still have some of the same toxic behaviors (working on them in therapy tho). It’s hard living in the alternate reality that uBPD parents create. In fact, when the DIL mentioned some of the stuff she found creepy, I was mildly surprised as I thought it was normal (at least normal enough). Such as the comment about her baby having 50% of her dad’s genes as well. It’s true that’s a totally unnecessary and uncalled for comment, but I prob wouldn’t have thought much of it. Anyway, if you have a parent who sounds similar, you aren’t alone. Sending healing vibes y’all’s way.

It's insane how much my fiance and I relate to story 11. Unfortunately my mother is a toxic, manipulative person who try to turn me against my lady. This wouldn't be the first time I've had to deal with her manipulative ways. I cut her off for a long time, but I've gotten back in touch with her a couple of years ago. It was shortly after I started seeing my bride that my mom started exhibiting those same toxic traits. It was really difficult, because I felt like I was having to relive my past all over again, but I decided to do what it took to protect my fiance. I told my mom that she was no longer allowed to speak to future wife, which of course made her very upset. But I know this lady too well to let her have an upper hand on our relationship. Be thankful if you do not have a toxic parent work in-law

I'm dumb founded at how similar psycho mom is almost identical to my own mother. My mother was even worse if you can believe it. When our 29 year old daughter passed away in her bed and I found her she came to our home and wouldn't ever leave. It took us over a year to get her out only for her to say to me that I use my daughter's death as a crutch and I needed her here to keep my mind right and if I didn't stop being depressed my husband would leave me. There is 50 years of psychological abuse I have dealt with from her. I recently have blocked her completely and my husband and I have never been so happy. We have been married 31 years. That MIL story hits home, only my X-MIL was never nice to me. She said nasty stuff about me before meeting or even talking with me. She would also set me up to look bad, especially at Christmas. One year she sent me on a wild goose chaise for a certain brand and style of dishes (that didn't exist) as a requested gift for X's Aunt. I even drove 3 hours each way to the manufacturer's factory outlet store, where I found out that this alleged dish pattern didn't exist. Why his family's gift was 'my' responsibility I'll never know. It was HIS gift for HIS aunt, but according to X-MIL it was 'my fault' for not finding it and she told everyone she could what a POS I am with every imagined slight.

At one point she had convinced my daughter's father to kidnap the baby away from me until I was able to go to court and get them to have the baby giving back. She literally wants to steal my daughter away for herself. She has two sons. Always wanted a daughter. Has been trying to take mine now for last 8 years. Only difference is is my daughter's father does not denounce anything that his mother does. He admits that she's crazy but he allows it. A lot of emotional incest in that family. I had a Mrs. Psycho in my life. My ex husband's mother was so much like the story. I should have known right since the first time she met me she says and I quote .."You're not petite and pretty like his other exes." Well damn, I was 21 and 5'10 and curvy. She was and is a manipulative bitch. She expected us to leave our doors open so she can get in any time she wanted. I had a 3 year old son when we met and then my ex and I had two kids together. Mrs Psycho pretended she loved my son for the next two years until her first grandchild was born. After our son was born she literally treated him like a god. My oldest became invisible. I assumed after having our daughter the Psycho would treat her like a goddess... nope!! My oldest and youngest (youngest was her blood) were just tolerated. She wreaked havoc on my mental health. My house wasn't spotless when I had my two youngest kids. Toddlers are tornado's so I tried to ignore it. She wanted a say in every damn decision I made. The ex hubby didn't see it all at first but even when he did see it, he didn't care. My ex and I split in 2010, we had our own issues but her crap made everything worse. So when my oldest son graduated from high school she started running her mouth because she wasn't invited to either of his Highschool graduations because he's a smart kid and didn't invite her or the ex. He didn't like them. My ex was an awesome stepfather until puberty hit and he has to always have the last word and is never wrong. Then a good many year's later when my ex and my son graduated Mrs. Psycho bought him a car and had a big party. Her house was decorated with his name, graduation year, his soccer number....etc. When our daughter graduated two years later she got a card and $50. That showed who was treated better. Our daughter has no relationship with Mrs. Psycho not as if daughter hadn't tried. Mrs. Psycho talked so much garbage about me that wasn't true. She filled out son with lies and bullshit about me. Our son loved staying at her house (he had his own room). Junior year he moved to her house. He slowly stopped talking to me. My oldest son was with me until he was like 20. Our daughter lived and still does live with me. Well recently our son and his gf had so much time during quarantine that they created a beautiful baby boy. Made me a grandma 🥰. They were living with Mrs. Psycho but she started telling the girl where they could put a crib and that she'd get up when he cried...blah....blah. The gf and my daughter talked and my daughter explained to the girl that it was all the bull she did to me. Finally our son could see it. I had only met our sons gf twice. Her and my daughter get along well. She wanted me to visit because she actually wanted to get to know me because she was told so much garbage about me from Mrs. Psycho. He and the girl were told about a nice house in a good neighborhood and Mrs. Psycho got mad at the woman who gave them the information. I am glad they got away no mother wants a bossy bitch running her life. Once they moved out Mrs. Psycho started trying to hold his car against him. So he drives his gf car. They are good parents. I feel like I wasted so many years dealing with BS. My ex Mrs. Psycho was only happy when making others miserable. I know this was extremely long but I've needed to vent. Thanks to anyone that reads this. Control your life and love.

Look, I’m not much of a busybody but who the hell watches a building burn down and doesn’t call 911 like the guy in Story #2? What a creep. What if a kid died in there. If you fear repercussions and don’t want to be a snitch, just lie and say you weren’t able to get a good enough view of the guys who did it when the cops come. Don’t just sit there.

I know!! I feel the same way. It always pisses me off when I hear that in stories unless it has to do with sexual assault cus I know most people are afraid of relation from their abusers.

The 11th story is honestly the truth of every Indian in-laws. Pretty normalized in the country, sadly.
