I live on the Olympic Peninsula. Every summer it's road work. Every winter it's landslides, sinking asphalt and flooding rivers in the spring. Campgrounds on the peninsula are booked up a year in advance. Us locals grab our tents, throw our E bikes in the 4x4 and head off on the National forestry roads. We may sleep in our vehicle or tent because the forest service roads are not RV friendly. We mostly avoid the National Park entrances because of the wait times. There are several roads accessing parts of the Olympic National Park that are unmanned and open to the public with no lines. There are rainforests in the National forest, places where you can be alone. We use our park road maps and quadrangle maps to explore. Our E Bikes are great tools to check out sketchy forest roads. Washington Dept of transportation has maps showing where all the roadwork is occurring.

We attempted that same ride on a Street Glide in July 2023. Yes, you would definitely be better off with a dirt bike, or 4X4. Both road were in the same condition. Lol. We made it to the visitor's gate at the Ho Rain Forrest where they said it was at least a 1hours wait. Since it was already late in the day we left. Great video. 😊

If you have reservations and that’s your destination then it’s worth it. But if you’re planning on making it a day trip then you have to factor the wait time. This is true with all the big popular parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone.

I’m glad to see the videos you guys did in 22 and I’m sorry you had a bad experience in the Olympic Peninsula. Being a local the Ho Rain forest is a great place if you’ve never been but, just getting to the entrance is a massive pain. We do the 101 about every other year and vow to never do it again south of Forks because of the road repair. But, we do and then fuss about it for a year. Have fun, ride safe and enjoy the Arkansas hills.

Chip and seal is ok, last August my son and I were in the Four Corners head to Durango. We sit in traffic for an hour and finally got to go. Road work was down to one lane for 8 miles. To make it worst the cut the asphalt up down to the dirt and loose gravel. You couldn’t have drove a ten penny nail up my backside. We both were all over the place. Plus about half way across it came a blowing dust storm. It was the worst 8 miles of our 6,000 mile ride. I was so glad to get to the mountains that afternoon.

Yeah I ALWAYS forget to account for road works on my travels. So when the GPS tells me its 6 hours to my destination I never think that it could be a LOT longer then that. I recall one year I lost count on how many roadworks I encountered but it was super painful and obviously not very enjoyable over almost 2000km. There are websites that tell you where the roadworks are BUT every trip I take I always forget to look at that :)

I think you can buy TPSs to screw onto valve stems, so no need to have them "on the bike" if you're willing to bust out an app on your phone. But on bikes like the tiger where you can reach the valve stems without becoming a contortionist, it's bound to be quicker, cheaper, and more reliable to carry a quality tire pressure gauge. Just check at regular intervals like weekly or every 500 miles or something. And anytime after a bike sits a while before going. Keep in mind that pressure will vary with temperature, so when getting all anal about setting an exact number, it's gonna be off as soon as the temperature changes a few degrees.
@TwoWheelsBigLife11 ай бұрын
The tire minders I have on the HD had saved us more then once while riding down the road. AZ. UT both states I had slow leak and it was caught by the temp sensor in the device. So I’ll keep em.
