I don't know how people could say Rebirth was better than Remake. Rebirth was bigger, but the story was lame and the Zack sections were boring and confusing, and the ending was just awful. I walked away from that game exhausted and not excited about part three.
@MagmAlexАй бұрын
@@TerranIV not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t know how you could say Rebirth wasn’t better than Remake. Sure the Zack sections were weird and the ending is divisive but that’s what, 2 hours of gameplay in a 100 hour game? The moment to moment gameplay and combat is head and shoulders above Remake. The soundtrack is one of the best of all time. The vibes are immaculate. The sheer amount of things to do is astounding. I disagree about the story. It’s a fairly faithful remake while expanding certain story moments perfectly. Sure the multiverse stuff isn’t that engaging but that’s mostly relegated to the Zack stuff and the ending

@AlwaysBetOnDuncАй бұрын
I will come through and I think the first Remake is far better than Rebirth, the combat is great and better than the first, that's the only thing I prefer. actually exploring the world is boring and tedious, it's too obsessed with checklists and the very rote design ideas we've been plagued with in Open World games for the last decade, and the narrative is way too scared to actually answer on the promise of the ending of Remake to do anything interesting, constantly teasing some major change up to an ending that acts as if it is changing things when it is fundamentally uninterested in actually making any interesting choice. It is a disneyland video game, an utterly frictionless slog where everyone is constantly happy and nobody ever disagrees for more than two hours, as much as I like the combat, there's too much downtime between that to make it worthwhile. I also thought Remake had pacing issues but the difference there is a game I completed 100 percent in 30 hours versus a game I didn't even bother going for half the extra shit that lasted 100

So the kusarigama being illegal in Ireland is because we have rival families of travellers (Irish gypsies) who sometimes, in their feuds, have big fights with various medieval weaponry they somehow get ahold of. Morningstars, samurai swords, pikes etc. So there's basically a blanket ban on owning these things so they can be busted with them and arrested before anyone gets killed.

Nintendo did tell Ubisoft that launching a sequel on the same platform was likely to underperform. Considering it's 2024 and they haven't even officially announced the switch successor and the generally poor financial state of Ubisoft (since 2019 mind you), it's understandable Ubisoft weren't willing to wait, but it can't be said they weren't warned. Edit: Should mention kyle did bring this up; I'm sure the prolonged Switch life cycle has screwed up more than a few sequel plans. As for putting IPs back in the vault, I'm not sure Ubisoft has the leeway to really do that. Appropriately enough, it was the disaster of a sequel launch (Ghost Recon: Breakpoint) that has led Ubisoft to their current dire situation.

Great analysis. Yeah there are so many franchises I like it's pretty rare that I want 2 games from 1 franchise in the same 5-year console generation. Sparks of hope was really good, but I could see it selling much better on Switch 2. Freshness is very important in games. if you attempt a second game on a console, it needs extreme freshness. Don't worry FF7R3 will be the 'Return of the King' moment for the project. Bigger PS5 install base, the completed story, the complete trilogy bundle, the open world airship battles, probably PC day 1 too. watch Monster Hunter Wilds set the new trend for simultaneous release.

I think the small examples of Hellblade 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are pretty good encapsulations of a fourth reason why Sparks of Hope had no hope (A fourth, shadow reason): The previous game was surprisingly good, so there was no mystery of the sequel’s quality. Mario + Rabbids just from concept alone sounded like it could have been a disaster, so when it came out and impressions were great, it got people to check out this novelty. Similar to Ninja Theory crafting a beautiful, “AAA” looking game on a AA budget, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake releasing at all. When each respective sequel got announced, most people just assumed they would knock it out of the park again, so there was less incentive to get in early on discussion of a hidden gem.

One of the key reasons for a sequel flopping(besides being bad), is that the first game drew in people who were new, but curious to what it was. Upon the sequel releasing, a chunk of those people don't return, cause they didn't enjoy their experience with the first.

Funny this comes up when I just started playing Sparks of Hope yesterday. Given how that game runs and how paired down some of the effects look, I think Switch 2 would have been a better place for it. It still might, though I guess backwards compability disincentivizes them making a upgraded version of it for the new platform. Some of the game's Ubisoftness aside I'm enjoying it quite a bit though. They got rid the rule requiring each team comp have Mario + 1 rabbid, which was my main complaint of the first one, so that was a big plus. Original game ran out of steam in the final world so not sure how this one will hold up in the long run, but hopeful. It's a neat franschise and it would be cool if whatever comes out of this new studio has a similar vibe.

Adding Rayman is cool, but it was too late. They should've had him in the main game and replaced Edge to be (initially) more exciting. As far as the weirdness... yeah, they honestly took a step BACK. The sequel became more of a Rabbids universe with some Mario characters than a crossover. The original had Mario(-like) areas and characters but with a Rabbids twist. There was basically none of that in the sequel, and the "new" Mario things were their plain models but maybe something basic like covered in goop. Nearly everything was almost entirely original and stripped of Mario-related things. Also, I don't think the mechanics were improved (in some case worsened), but I don't think that deterred most people. You would've had to pay more attention to notice those details.

This goes both ways. Sometimes bad games get good sales and the company thinks, "Nothing is wrong!" because the title is selling based on how the previous titles were. The reaction is always delayed. Just look at Star Wars or Marvel for an example of that. It took a while for the bad quality of products to cause a downturn, but once it does come into effect, it will take even longer for that effect to be reversed by better product quality, if in fact better products come out. So companies shouldn't take this as something they can abuse, they are going to suffer twice as long on the downturn.
