Not exactly TOAA actually did answer his question TLDR: The hulk hurts because of free will. Full explanation: TOAA/TOBA has free will and since he is the literal embodiment of everybody (many mouths many arms ect) we also have free will because we are a part of him and as a result of the free will. Only we have the capacity to do good or evil and only we can decide for ourselves who we want to be and what world we want to live in. TOAA pretty much told them you have the ability to be whoever you want to be and the crazy part is savage hulk figured it out and understood he chose love and mercy when he forgave the leader this also explains why banner is so happy at the end because part of him (savage hulk) knows without a shadow of a doubt that he is free.

Toaa assured him that because he was made for destruction doesn't mean he's evil or that he was created for evil. He was created for unadulterated deliverance. Which is why he asks will he become golecheb the destroyer or the other. Banner/hulks have a place in this universe is basically the assurance the banner system needed. This is an answer he's been searching for. Why there is a Hulk was the question and as ambiguous as toaa is he defo explained the hulks role.

Sadly, the MCU cannot because Universal owns the rights to solo Hulk movies, and unlike Sony with Spider-Man, Universal does not want to play nice and co-produce a solo Hulk movie with Disney. Disney only has rights to use Hulk in other character's movies or team-ups.

This was a fantastic ending to this story arc. The Immortal Hulk is the very literal opposite to The One Above All when it comes to their purpose. While The One Above All is pure creation in the whole world of Marvel Comics the Hulk is the ultimate destruction. One balances the other and it is freaking cool.

YESS! A worthy finale to the run. Although it leaves many questions unanswered not everything needs to be answered. I am puzzled by the meaning behind the OAA's words. I can only speculate that he created the Hulk simply because destruction is the counterweight for creation. Suffering and destruction simply must exist along joy and creation for the world to be a whole. Just like he himself is both the One-Below-All and the One-Above-Al both one at the same time. There never was a grand purpose or plan for the Hulk's existence he just exists because the world needs him. But just as The Savage Hulk showed kindness and forgiveness to Sterns and how Banner said in the ending They are still good people. Similarly how for example in the Wreck-it-Ralph movie Ralph said "I am bad, and that is good" despite that the only thing he can do is wreck things. They also hinted that "the green doors are now closed" and maybe a new one will open probably meaning that Banner managed to absolve some of his inner demons and hopefully can start the Hulk's future with anew. We will see if the new green door will help some of the characters to return to their original bodies or be freed from their torments. And hopefully the Leader is now gone and Sterns is freed from the Leader persona for good (or at least awhile, as we know character always return in comics XD). EDIT Adendum: It may also be possible that the Devil Hulk actually now merged back into Banner, Banner said that "Did I absorb the Devil on my shoulder? Have I laid an old ghost to rest?" this could indicate that.

Well we did hear devil talk to Bruce when Joe fixit first became the red hulk so he is still part of Bruce but I'm thinking he's still deep in his mind now very weak after what leader did to him so we probably won't see him for awhile and I think two hulks to juggle with right now is enough but I hope we can see devil soon

Bennett and Ewing nailed this on every level - a powerful, emotional and redemptive ending. It's rare to see a 'mere' comic with such emotional intelligence. Ewing in particular really gets it - when a being carries such a burden of rage and grief, the only way to keep one's soul intact is to actively choose mercy and forgiveness. My favourite Hulk run. Ever.

There's a vast difference between being an agent or Avatar of a powerful Abstract and actually being anywhere near said being in power. And that is why since day one I've literally been saying that T.O.B.A. and T.O.A.A. are two sides of the same coin. A theory that was just proven correct in this issue and is now a solid fact. This is literally that most accurate representation of an all powerful God that is neither all good or all bad, but both. One could say that this now puts Hulk up there with characters such as DC's, "The Spectre". Because, while a case can be made that everyone in the Marvel verse is T.O.A.A.'s creations, aka, his children. None is as directly created as Bruce is. This also explains why Hulk's PHYSICAL strength is unlike any other character's in all of fiction, as well as the fact that T.O.A.A. has in fact been limiting Hulk's potential as he sees fit, because of his whole "balance" speech. Hulk is a hero, a monster, a metaphor for scared/abused children, a tool for Omniversal balance and much, much more that we have yet to see. A truly phenomenal finale that explains why the Hulk can and has done what he has been able to accomplish, throughout his entire comic book history.

This isn't ambiguous nor is it a riddle. Toaa is a duality and as such his divination which is why hulk is his embodiment of destruction that is now fact. Toaa stated there Is weight and you are the counterweight. Destruction isn't evil it just is what it is which is what toaa is assuring banner/hulks. Banner can choose his path now without influence, he knows he is a force of nature that just is in existence. That I think is a great amount of solace for the system.

@@cyprianofcarthage6890 mainly because Book of Job is somewhat disturbing, and this graphical. God answers to Job like One above all does to Hulk: in a way that doesn't answer any of his questions. He just suffers and it is not his business to know why. The disturbing thing is that the reference makes it into a commentary on real life religion, which Marvel comics usually shys away from. It draws parallel between One above all and YHWH, and while the christian theology finds God, the ultimate power in the universe, good and loving, One above all has generally been more distant and deistic figure, and in this comic is revealed to have a dark side, One below all. In Book of Job, the message is that we don't know why we suffer, but we can trust that it is for a reason and good and loving God ultimate delivers us from evil. Now, in this comic, the answer is that we suffer because God is also the devil and beyond good and evil. It kinda weird me out, even though the intertextual dimension makes it into a more powerful story. Others my appreciate it for this very same reason. Comic book stories don't always rise to this level of art.

He did explain hulk suffering, we are hulk. God is represented as absolute consciousness, the awareness over everything including all known future potentialities. The term for a known future, is called the past, for God to be aware of all known futures, implies every potential has arleady been achieved and there is nothing left to expiernce. So what is the one thing God lacks, limitation. Only through a being with limited conscience ability, a counterweight, can God come into existence. Consciousness is a reflection of what is, just as hulk is the avatar for the one above all, so are we of God. In this, hulk finds meaning, and purpose. He becomes whole realizing his connection with something higher than his traumatic past, no longer clinging to his pain but embracing it, no longer shackled by suffering but embraced by it because we need to suffer if we are to expeirnce meaning.

@@drinkoldcoke thats what it means, the center of Buddhism and Christianity is revolved around suffering with the portrayal of God as absolute conscious awareness. In the comic you have the one above all who is God, and banner who is man explaining his reasoning for suffering.

I've been reading through the reviews of issue 50 today and there's one very important detail that you missed. Robert Stern's wife's maiden name was Banner, he calls her Beatrice Banner in the last flashback page. She was carrying Samuel Stern's child, which would imply that Samuel Sterns is Brian Banner's grandfather, and makes Samuel Sterns and Bruce Banner related.

No. It’s implied at the end that Devil Hulk personality got absorbed by Bruce( Bruce wondered if he absorbed the Devil on his shoulder), essentially his and Bruce’s personality might have merged. The true green Scar/ worldbreaker hulk personality was NEVER in this run. It was always the leader posing as him. The real Green Scar personality is dormant within Bruce’s

We simply do not know, Maybe the Devil Hulk is dead but it may come back to life or maybe it is stuck at the Below place, the Worldbreaker we are not sure. Maybe the Worldbreaker in this run was actually the Leader in disguise all this time or maybe the Worldbreaker was just watching all along or maybe he is indeed stuck in the Below place. But it may be possible that the Devil Hulk actually now merged back into Banner as Banner said that "Did I absorb the Devil on my shoulder? We can only speculate but I would say Yes. I think that was future where The OAA decided that the next cosmos should not exist that cosmos must be destroyed, so from his manifestations of creation and destruction the destruction has overcame creation. The destruction embodied by the One-Below-All-Hulk and the creation was Embodied by the golden body of The Metatron. We first thought that the OBA destroyed him but now we know that this could very well be a metaphor for the two becoming one again.

Personally I think there are many things remained unclear: what did banner mean when he said hulk had a plan in his mind? why TOBA let them go at the end? How samson knew hulk was in hell?? However I really enjoyed the run! I really hope somebody won t ruin the char in the future

Pretty anticlimactic ending to a very good run. I'm annoyed they never addressed the plot thread of Hulk destroying the one about all at the end of the universe when banner shows up all evil after killing mr. immortal. Just left all that dangling out their

The one above all eludes to the events of issue #25 in this issue. That future was never an absolute guarantee, but merely a possible road the Hulk could go down( similar to him becoming the maestro in future imperfect). It all depends on the choices that Bruce and the Hulks make. By choosing to forgive the Leader and not use violence as a solution, the Savage Hulk’s actions have made the events of issue #25 less likely, because the one below all can’t possess and feed off him if he doesn’t succumb to his anger and hatred. Going against his baser instincts and need for Revenge was a step in the right direction for the Hulk. The one below all and his father, Brian have both lost the emotional hold that they have had over him. That’s the whole point of the finale
