I'm currently on 9.00 as we speak and barely started getting into it. My best bet for you is to get an hdd with 4 terabyte memory and make sure you have it formatted to exfat or otherwise it won't read. So buy yourself in external hard drive with that much memory cause the way i'm seeing it your gonna need it for sure.

yes, you put your pkgs on the thumb drive and install it to the hdd. No need to format thumb drive on the ps4 because you already did that on your PC. :)
