After watching the Japanese versions, I did a small project where I gave both SA1 and SA2 new English dub scripts. My goal was to not only make it more accurate, but also make every line fit the mouth movements and timing. I kept some of the old English lines if they were good enough or too iconic to change. It took two weeks and I’m proud of my work, even if it took an excruciatingly long time. I wish I was able to get VAs and coders to make a dub mod. But I’m not rich or have contact with anybody of that talent.

Things I noticed in the Japanese dub: 1. Sonic likes speaking english 2. Shadow, when referring to himself, switches from "Waga" to "Boku" from the first time he was freed 3. Amy's voice sounds closer in tone to Tails'. But considering that she's considered like 12 yo in this game makes sense. 4. Tails. Sounds fuckin'. ADORABLE... But we already knew that. 5. Shadow sounds less gruff in Japanese which fits his character. 6. Shadow genuinely sounds confused as to why Sonic lookslike him in a way that I interpret as him thinking to himself "What the fu-... Who is this guy?" 7. These guys fit into anime tropes, but it never clicked for me until I watched this. 8. This game is a sci-fi spy flick on the villains side. And a Mission impossible parody on the Heroes side

Oh yeah, I absolutely cannot agree more. It's probably the most impactful part of the game for me, personally. Genuinely never fails to make me tear up in the original Japanese dubbing every single time. The emotion and message there actually feels REAL and IMPACTFUL.

What a piece of art this video is! Thank you SO MUCH for the effort you put into making this video! I've played this game literally hundreds of times at this point (been playing it since 2003 lol), but for some reason despite using the JP voice for speedrunning the stages, I never played the story mode with it, and oh my god what have I been missing all these years, this dub is AMAZING in comparison with the more classic english one! Also watchin the whole story in chronological order feels so fucking good! I learned so much about what happened when because of this. I honestly can't put into words how much this video was a blast to watch, I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for making this!

I can tell the animations and mouth syncing was made more for the Japanese version than the English version. In the English version, the words don’t match with what they’re saying, they’re constantly talking over each other, and it’s very out of sync.
