Well, the entire point of Super Sonic in that fight was to infuse Chaos with positive energy of chaos emeralds, so he won't go evil again. When it's not needed (Generations), Chaos can be defeated with conventional means.

I beat this boss with 2 rings left the first time! Also, I hate how it changes it from Open Your Heart in the second phase. I HATE THE SECOND PHASE SONG. Open Your Heart is a beautiful song, possibly better than City Escape.

The second phase song seems generic compared to the epicness that’s Open Your Heart, but it’s a great song in my eyes. Also, you’re in luck. There’s a mod included with BetterSADX that swaps the two songs so it’s less anti-climactic as people say.

The first one is basically Generations Two fun facts: 1) Pefect Chaos's design in Generations is how he was meant to look like originially, but they couldn't due to technical limitations 2) In Generations, Sonic at base is way more powerful than he was in Adventure, hence how he was able to beat Chaos without the Chaos Emeralds.
