Today we are looking at each of the Sonic Games that are on Nintendo Switch, and whether or not they are good versions, or even just good games at all.

I actually got a Nintendo switch a few days ago and one of the games that I got was frontiers. I haven’t gotten past Kronos island yet, though I’m close, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think it’s super fun. I don’t see a problem with graphics, but maybe it’s because I haven’t seen it with better quality. The only real time that it has bad quality (for me) is when I’m playing it on the smaller screen and not hooked up to a TV, which makes perfect sense considering how you have all this detail crammed into a screen that’s smaller than an iPad. P.S, thank you. Your video about giganto actually helped me beat him with EXTREME ease. I was on the part where you button mash so you don’t get “eaten” by giganto, and if it weren’t for you mentioning that you could use the joystick instead of mashing the button, I probably would’ve died. Thanks to you I was able to beat him first try. I already liked your channel but you’ve earned a new sub

Nice video man! In my experience with playing the Sonic games on the Switch, if it's your only option, (which was me for awhile until I had better ways to play) then there's a good chance that you can still enjoy it despite frame rate drops for the more graphically intense games.

I got Colors Ultimate from a used game shop and had no problems to speak of (none that were significant or stopped me from having fun at least) It looks amazing and I still have fun with it. I'm glad that it it was my first switch game!

Honestly Mario and Sonic 2020 is a pretty fun game, story mode is kinda lack luster and you have to play it just to unlock more stuff I think but besides that it’s pretty fun 🔥

As someone who’s never been bothered with framerate (I still play Sonic Unleashed on my Xbox 360 since I can’t be bothered with emulation or buying a Series X), I think the Switch ports for Sonic games are optimized pretty well. Plus, it’s nice to have these games on the go whenever I play in handheld mode.

I mostly agree that Sonic games on Switch are pretty well optimized, but Sonic Frontiers on the Switch looks like a flipping mid PS Vita port (and some aspects of the game, like when you're in a cave in Ares and Chaos Island looks absolutely sinful even for PS Vita standards), and there's mods for the Switch version that give it better foliage and other graphical enchantments and still runs at around 30fps (it occasionally drops frames a little bit, but it's not too bad, and the base game itself drops frame even though it looks horrible)

Everyone always goes on about playing “on the go” but let’s be real. How often and how long do you play on the go?? 10 minutes? An hour in the car?? It just ain’t worth the sacrifice of power. Especially if you play online with smash etc, nobody wants to play that “on the go” without internet..

I think that Sonic has a pretty solid lineup on the Nintendo Switch console. While Frontiers is not for me, I enjoy stuff such as Team Sonic Racing; that game in particular is my second favorite Sonic title following Colors. Forces isn't that great, but I found fun out of it. I played some Sonic Mania on my nephew's Switch. It's got a lot going for it. Superstars has potential to be a game I might pick up. As for the Tokyo Olympics? I like it. Nice coverage.

You don’t feel the 30fps dunk when you play any of the Sonic Team developed games on switch. That I’ll give them props for. Despite the frame rate being cut in half they still feel great… EXCEPT CLASSIC SONIC IN FORCES HE FEELS LIKE SHIT TO PLAT

Since I don't see anyone else saying anything about it, I'm pretty sure that most of the crazy graphical bugs in the Switch version of Colors Ultimate were actually recorded from Yuzu, a Switch emulator. It accentuated a problem that doesn't exist nearly as much on actual hardware.

Sonic colors ultimate is amazing to me because i didnt play it on launch inly issue that i came across was the audio settings the sfx and music are on the same bar you cant change them separately but other than that it was a great experience

On my copy of Sonic Colors Ultimate on my switch, after I bought the Sonic Movie dlc, my options menu crashes the game and now I can’t customize Sonic or use Super Sonic

Mania origins and Olympic games were the best looking ones if I have to be the most objective ones Still love frontiers even if I got the short end of the stick...but at least I can play in my opinion a contender for an AAA game on the go, hot take or not its got a lot going on with it especially now with update 2

Sonic colors ultimate is fine yes it had a rocky launch especially on switch, but most of the major glitches have been patched out, and they added some features like a music toggle and a proper way to view the cutscenes!

I don't know if you should've included sega megadrive/genesis classics on here since it features 4 sonic games (technically 5 if you include the banger that is Dr.robotnik's mean bean machine) since two of em are already in origins. Also the game super cheap used and you can cheat using save states in classics if you're not good at the early games.

I will say that i have had a fine experience with colors ultimate on my switch. I don’t like colors that much but the game is able to be played just fine. I don’t know what it is but my switch has never had the same problems with sonic games like other people have had. Maybe it’s because I have the OLED but idk

I really liked forces 😅 I guess because it tried to get the player in the game and I felt it played smooth on the Nintendo. I had fun. Never finished colours though.

Ordinarily I will take a solid, stable framerate at the cost of a degree of graphical fidelity quite happily, but in my opinion that comparison between Switch and PS5 for Superstars is a bit yikes. I've seen issues with aliasing too, and it seems some of the Emerald powers can cause the framerate to chug a little. It absolutely seems like a _very_ respectable port though for sure, which is great in a day and age where the Switch is only showing its age more and more with crappy port after crappy port. I think though this might be a PS5 buy for me. Looking forward to it regardless!

I do want to say it’s not superstars fault for the price tag for me personally this whole debate of $60 2D started for me and some others with the release of Metroid Dread. It’s an amazing game don’t get me wrong but it didn’t offer me enough to warrant the price tag. Frontiers is always on discount and so will superstars most likely

It sucks that the switch is so underpowered. I played sonic frontiers on the PS5, and even on that console there’s a lot of pop in it you play in either 4k mode or normal HD

4:41 The switch versions performance is actually more favourable than the PS4 and Xbox One S versions, as TSR is notorious for being poorly optimised on those consoles. They run at between 60-40 depending on where you are in the map, whereas the switch version is lower but more stable and is actually better. Also in my experience its easier to fnd online matches on switch TSR then xbox, surprisingly.

But I haven't tried PC myself.. sega all stars racing, 2010, was never optimised to run well on AMD If you have Xbox One X or PS4 Pro, tsr runs basically locked at 60 as long as you set your console to 1080p instead of 4K
