Besides, I come EXTREMELY close in every game you listed. 2016 - Fire and Ice - I almost killed Sonic with my sheer weight. 2014 - Sonic Boom - Lyric was the main threat at this time, so it was more importantly to defeat him, which I actually did. If it wasn't for me, this snake would have killed Sonic and his friends, so they owed me a pizza. Oh and I got this amazing deus ex machina of Lyric. 2013 - Sonic Lost World - Sonic had to live through his most desperate moment. 2011 - Sonic Generations - I squashed Sonics into blue jelly. It's only because of the -power of friendship- Chaos Emeralds they were able to get an upper hand. Who cares, because of this incident I was able to contact Albert and start another brilliant scheme. 2001 - Sonic Adventure 2 - I was able to hold entire world hostage and I almost killed Sonic. If it wasn't for Sonic's Chaos Control and my grandfather program I would have won. 1993 - Sonic CD - I conquered an entire world and entire Sonic's progress was undermined in Sonic 4, because I enslaved Little Planet once again and it's still stuck in Death Egg mk.2 (AND IT WILL BE STUCK FOREVER!). 1991 - Sonic the Hedgehog - I caught Sonic off guard by turning EVERY animal into robot and I almost killed him by throwing him into Labyrinth Zone Act 4.

I think that there could be a more simple explanation:the phantom ruby created a distortion in limbo right before its arrival in sonic mania. It appears in the modern sonic universe after some games just because time traveling can make you go years and years in the future in just a second. But this is just a theory.

You might want to read this before you comment: "Eggman never wins" and "beating Sonic" both mean (in my Interpretation at least), that Eggman either defeated Sonic for good or made sure that Sonic wont interfere with his Plans otherwise. So Sonic Riders and Chronicles don't count as a win, and he lost in Forces at the End because of Sonic, so he didn't beat Sonic. Well, he did win practically speaking. Each time you died to him or his robots, he won in that "Universe", but since save-load mechanics are a thing, we go back and create a new one in wich we beat him. Reminds me of a game that puts that into our face yet is decades younger than the Sonic Trilogy (Yes, Undertale). :D
