Additional note: Blaze is already a princess and the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, while Sonic is one of the few people who has canonically maintained control of the Chaos Emeralds' power for a non-sinister purpose. (Bonus points for the fact that Sonic later goes on to become a legendary knight and king)

Super Sonic has always had a timer based on the amount of rings you have (so the player can't just breeze past the levels while being invincible, the ring timer doesn't exist in the lore) since he was introduced in Sonic 2.

I love this game! It's one of the faster Sonic games out there, on levels of speed with Sonic Unleashed: Wii (Really great game, by the way) And I even know a trick to the boss stages: If you charge a SpinDash and jump right after, you get a MASSIVE speed boost!
