I’m one of the developers of The Storied Sword (graphics and music), thanks for showing the game! To clarify: the game isn’t a rom hack, the engine was created by collaborator Bite The Chili :)

For years, I thought Chuck Mangione was a fictional character in King of the Hill as a kid. I can’t blame people for thinking Casa Bonita was a fictional South Park restaurant. I am sure most people did at one time. Before I had the internet, I thought Whataburger was a fictional King of the hill fast food restaurant. It was years until I saw one in person. I met people who thought White Castle was a fictional restaurant because of the Harold & Kumar movies.

What a great clip. Sounds like Frankie's got a great wee selection of games to play. I reckon my dad would have loved the south park games, that was our thing. He'd let me watch it on a Friday night from when I was like 7 or 8 with strict understanding I wasn't to tell my mum or repeat the language. 😂😂

I believe Sonic Mania was made by one guy actually fellas. I think the story goes that he had worked on an indie project and they liked it so much that SEGA hired him or w/e to make an official game.
@RedCowArcadeКүн бұрын
Yeah it was Christian Whitehead and his team. Previous to that, he had developed the amazing mobile ports of Sonic 1, 2, and CD. Knocked it out of the park.

Actually i wanna correct the record because this kind of is a common misconception that annoys me: Christian Whitehead gets all the credit because his name is first on the credits but Simon “Stealth” Thomley founded the studio Headcannon that did the bulk of the work on Mania. Whitehead still contributed a lot especially when it comes to level design but Stealth and his team provided the manpower to make that game a reality While Whitehead did the Sonic CD remaster all by himself, it was him and Stealth who then did the Sonic 1&2 mobile remakes. Then Stealth and his studio did the Sonic 3 & Knuckles remake available on Sonic Origins by themselves, being rushed by Sega unfortunately. But Stealth I feel deserves his due as equally as Whitehead, the guy got his start by remaking Sonic 1 for the GBA after Sega tried doing it disastrously and he demonstrated that it was not only possible but that you could make a really good version and that Sega were just lazy

I haven’t watched any South Park since season 10 but you guys have absolutely sold me on the strict agnostic family episode. That’s brilliant. Would also love to check out the Casa Bonita documentary. Of course, gonna order these as either blue ray or dvd since I don’t like streaming and cannot get them in VHS 😉 Seriously, y’all are my gateway to media. Don’t have time for all that. Hope y’all had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday! Looking forward to seeing your Christmas content this season!

I will have to check out the Sonic Shadow Generations. I personally enjoyed Sonic Generations when i got it on PS3. I believe that game came out 2011? Really good stuff. Sonic Mania (and Plus) by far has been my favorite. Shout out to the composer Tee Lopes. Phenomenal soundtrack. Very well done.

What's odd about that south park game is that they gave the main character a male voice, instead of keeping them quiet. Since the player character *does* talk very briefly and make sounds like grunting or breathing or panting

Yea i really loved Shadow Generations as someone who in my formative years played Sonic Gens as his first real Sonic game. I think Shadow Gens really takes what the original did well - good controls, good level design, good bosses - and just improves on every aspect. Im glad theyre not just doing open world games from now on, because i really didnt get into Frontiers and was afraid standalone replayable levels would be abandoned. The only level i really didnt get into was you bring up Forces and they actually have a Forces level in Shadow, but the first act I really didnt like because they were a bit TOO faithful to Forces’ linearity by making it a series of hallways On the subject of Sonic’s design, yea i feel that the Gene version of Classic Sonic is almost like a “what you remember” version rather than specifically being a recreation of any version. It seems to combine the US and Jp interpretations. In fact I often get kinda annoyed whenever like if you remember two of the RLM guys did a Sonic video where they were really bad at it but they compared Sonic to poochie with how he was sort of an edgy by committee character and I often think “well that’s specifically the US interpretation from like 92. The original Japanese character is basically just Felix the cat or Mickey Mouse”. It’s the same thing with Shadow, despite his edgy design he’s not THAT edgy in his original appearance. It’s mostly when they brought him back from the dead they started making him kill people with guns and drive tanks And those sound like some sweet romhacks, love the Matei shoutouts, but the one thing i remember about Star Road is that a youtuber i watch called ExoParadigmGamer who i genuinely like but is a bit eccentric interrupts his Mario 64 review to do a five minute rant on Star Road. It’s weird Tho back on the subject of those hacks I wonder why they dont try to sell them on steam, I’d buy those. And on the subject of lives I do even as a zoomer think lives have their place and really miss them but I dont think NES games use them well so I dont really miss them from these romhacks I also was playing Tears again, starting to get into it more. I’m not really into the physics stuff but I do enjoy just exploring the world and seeing what’s what. I loved some of the environments of the original Breath and wanted to see if theyd progressed since then And I definitely see what you mean with South Park, the thing with South Park and Beavis & Butthead is despite being made by now old men the brands still capture how the youth thinks. The South Park kids can be a little bit Lisa Simpson but for the most part they actually do think and act how kids act and that’s very endearing. That’s honestly why they caught on so well with kids, because kids media doesnt understand kids like a South Park does. I didnt get far into Stick of Truth yet but I did love that sense of being that it gave me, similar to Simpsons Hit & Run for the PS2

Most Mario 64 romhacks wont actually run on the everdrive. You have to do extra research to figure out which will. A lot of the ones made in the older hack building tool will just flat out not work. Star Road will not work.
