So - because you specified price change expectations (which by the way were spot on), this review is still extremely useful 2 years later. Value for money is one of the most important ways I choose a product, and the Philips website is not clear enough about what features there are (despite their attempt to allow you to compare devices, reviews like this really are the only way to see the device in detail). Thank you.

Just bought two of these for about £147 each off Amazon. Am actually tremendously excited! We usually use Oral B IO 8s (bought at £150 each during Black Friday week!), which are excellent toothbrushes; we fancied a change and there were far more reviews for this type of Sonicare brush. Given this review, it would appear that a striking difference between the Oral B IO and Sonicare ranges is the battery life. I reckon I got four fifteen minute brushes out of the Oral B toothbrush, which for a RRP of £450 is pathetic.

The metal vibrating prong became completely loose and was unusable after 10 months. Had to open it up and re tighten the single tiny screw to fix the prong back in place. That was 2 months ago and it has become loose again. Very dissapointed, ordered a io9

Thanks for sharing this. This issue should have been covered under the warranty, so you wouldn't have had to do it yourself. If you have now opened it the warranty will be void. I hope you find that the iO9 serves you better.

If you want the exact same handle (same features etc) then you want one of these: www.usa.philips.com/c-p/HX9911_76/diamondclean-9000-sonic-electric-toothbrush-with-app These are brand new, fully boxed models with accessories you may already have. You might be able to buy the handle only, but they can be hard to find.

I thought the person did not need to move the brush in circles? The guy is moving it. I thought you were just meant to hold it on the teeth and the moving was done by the brush itself?

Sonicare suggest moving the brush from tooth to tooth and let the brush do all the work. That said our in-house dentists recommend using small circular motions as they believe this is beneficial.

Hi, I purchased the oral b advanced clean toothbrush would all oral b rechargeable toothbrushes have the same power but differ in modes and extra features? All I want really is sensitive mode due to my gum issues and sensitive teeth.
@ElectricTeeth4 жыл бұрын
Not all Oral-B toothbrushes have the same power settings. But, the difference is very small, so don't worry about this. The main difference between brushes are the cleaning modes, features and box contents. The sensitive mode can help, but you might find (if you are not already), that using a sensitive bristled head on your Advanced Clean toothbrush will be more gentle on the teeth and gums.

So the Diamond Clean Smart is cheaper than the Regular Diamond Clean ? Even though the Diamond Clean Smart is superior to the Regular Diamond Clean?
@ElectricTeeth4 жыл бұрын
Yes it was when I recorded the video. Typically, it has recently come down in price as part of a limited time deal, so it looks like it will go up again soon and the Smart version be the one to pick. Hi, I would kindly like to know which teeth cleaning system is more effective and goes deeper between the circular motion of the oral b io or genius x and the ultrasonic oscillatory motion of the Philips 9000 or xiaomi top models.. and which is the best to prevent gums from bleeding thanks
@ElectricTeeth4 жыл бұрын
Any toothbrush used with the correct technique, brushing time and routing can help prevent bleeding gums. There are studies that compare Oral-B to Sonicare and each come to their own conclusions. But a piece of research that analysed all existing studies said that overall, Oral-B is considered the most effective. But, the study that came to that conclusion said more research was required. Ultimately the clinical data does not exist to give a definitive answer. I would worry less about which is 'best' and worry more about your brushing technique and routine.

I recently purchased the Philips Sonicare Diamond toothbrush to replace my older Oral B. I’m finding the vibration hard to get used to with my new toothbrush. Have you had similar complaints, and would the Oral B electric toothbrushes have less vibration?
@ElectricTeeth3 жыл бұрын
Nancy. Some people do take time to adjust. Most people get used to it after a couple of weeks, but admittedly some don't. Oral-B brushes still have vibrations to the brush head, but it is quite different as you are experiencing. You don't get the tickling sensation like you do with sonic toothbrushes.

The absolute ultimate is the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart as an all round package. However, I stand by the fact that unless you really want all the extras that models like the DiamondClean offers, the Pro 2 2500 from Oral-B is still an excellent choice. The brush itself doesn't really clean the teeth any better.

Which Oral B toothbrush is the very best for gum & plaque ?
@ElectricTeeth4 жыл бұрын
There isn't 1 brush from Oral-B that is the very best for gums and plaque. They are all good for gums and plaque if you use them correctly, twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Technically, there is an argument that the more premium models like Genius and iO Series are better. However the reality this the difference would be minimal and unlikely clinically significant. I would stat out with something like the Oral-B Pro 2 2500.
@chiaraghirelli64013 жыл бұрын
What a thorough review! Since you test toothbrushes on a daily basis, do you suggest spending the extra 25€ on this newer model (as it's currently 85€ in my country)? My second option would be the protective clean 4500 at 60€. I don't care much for the extra features, I am mostly worried about the noise (having used oral-b for years, I got quite frustrated with that) and the durability. Thank you!
@ElectricTeeth3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I think you were asking whether it is worth spending €25 more on the DiamondClean 9000 over the ProtectiveClean 4500. I think for most people this is a no. €25 is a small premium over what you could pay, but unless you need or wanted these features, you suggest yourself no, then there isn't much point.
@chiaraghirelli64013 жыл бұрын
@@ElectricTeeth I was mostly worried the protective clean would make more noise and would be less durable because of its cheaper price. I will go with the protective clean then, thank you!!

No reason to worry about the noise or durability. They produce the same amount of noise and I have no reason to suggest the durability is any different. 👍
