Sonic GT: An Incredible & Complete 3D Experience

A few things I like with this game, at least so far: - The music is fantastic. - The gameplay is more physics-driven and momentum-based. - The ranking system looks more unique and sleeker. - Mighty and Ray's modern designs I actually really like. (Though I don't know if they came from somewhere else) - The voices, while they could use a bit of work, actually still fit for the characters. - The chemistry between said characters is more genuine and colorful, while keeping a comedic flare. (This game has gave me some chuckles and laughs a good few times) - Eggman here has a bit more of an edge to his attitude, which is something that I admire and feels like a breath of fresh air compared to mainline Eggman's overwhelming goofiness as of late.

Not covered here, but there are other characters besides Mighty and Sonic which are playable. You can also play as Ray, Metal Sonic, Classic Sonic and, of course, Super Sonic. There are secrets hidden in the levels which can unlock these extra characters. Super Sonic is his own separate playable character, rather than it being a transformation. If he runs out of rings, you die. He starts each level with 50 rings, but he's only playable on the challenges or time trials.

Those motobugs are genuinely a terrifying badnik in this game. You'll be enjoying the speed, and hearing the rev of their engine as they close in from behind. Worse part is they usually start off hidden to one side of the straights, so you never see them as you charge past them, yet they can STILL catch up. Forget boss fights, just throw tons of motobugs at Sonic!

I thought so too at first but the truth is this boss is WAAAYYYYYY easier than you would think . There is a lightning bubble prior to the fight and if you get it, you can actually use the bounce attack with basically every character to beat him while he is air borne because the lightning bubble negates all of the damage of the lightning orbs and you can also spam homing attacks if well timed to decimate him. I have beat him 6 times using this technique and each time it was before he even had a chance to land. I have also S ranked the stage twice. It actually was my first S ranked stage.

But that's the thing though with Sonic's VO 3:30 The voice is not all that smooth yet, he needs to settle more in bringing out Sonic's personality, but with his own Flair and style. No hate by the way, just some constructive criticism, the gameplay is top notch, the story is excellent, character choices are good, but the voice acting needs to go hand and hand. 9/10

Them motobugs do not play no games when it comes to chasing down sonic....I was actually scared of how fast they can go to keep up with sonic at high speed I also like how sonic really doesn't really like shadow that much and shadow feels the same towards sonic as well... Reminds me of SA2 when they first met...plus it feels brand new for sonic since I'm so used to his usual casual and laid back for everything vibe. So it's good to see that he has different emotions and reactions towards other characters

Looks cool, but a problem I see with so many of these highly polished 3D fan games is that it's so easy for Sonic to go flying over half the stage. There's no platforming if you can just soar over the whole thing.

That’s definitely a valid critique. Think it may come from the desire for more “open” levels clashing with wanting to retain the platformer aspects of most traditional Sonic levels. The adventure games handled this in a pretty balanced way I feel; not to say they were PERFECT mind you, but still.

@@abstractAnomaly Nothing's ever perfect, but I think these boost formulas are better suited to games like Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance 2, which can continue to be made alongside more classic style games like Mania. The 3D side needs to ground itself and focus more on increasing the levels of interactivty and skill. They're way too easy.

hmm, my only complaint is the sound levels aren't great. I'd rather the music be louder than all the sound effects. Otherwise it's great... a much better level of visual fidelity than most 3D sonic fan games, and also wide open levels conducive to the 3D gameplay, which is much appreciated over linearity.

This pretty much shows what the Bumper Engine is capable off, given to the right individuals. Smooth and addicting gameplay, expansive yet refined level design, fun levels, multiple playable characters. None of the Jank thats normally attributed with the engine, its beautiful.

Just unlocked all of the characters, and I’d say it was worth every second playing this wonderfully crafted game. The visuals, sounds, and gameplay all compliment each other to create something much bigger than the current sonic franchise. I personally enjoy the fact that there isn’t any way to boost through a level like sonic forces. As one progresses through the 4 stages, they learn what is effective for mobility and what isn’t. For example, the majority of the characters have a free-style jump in which they gain additional height and distance which can be incorporated into wall jumps, rail grinds, and spin dashes off ramps and walls. All in all, this is hands down the best Sonic fan game I have played. I wish there were more stages, but the current ones have a good amount of replay ability due to the huge cast of characters. Only thing I really don’t like about the game is that rosy the rascal/younger Amy rose constantly berates you with more bullets than any boss thus far and you cannot defeat her. The amount of bullets she shoots could probably turn a decent computer into a potato

This is very impressive. It’s clear how much work everyone on the team put into this, so kudos to them. I have issues with the level design, obviously meant to provide space for Sonic to run fast, but it unfortunately makes thins very unfocused. Honestly, they could slow Sonic down a bit, shrink down the level sizes, and the game would be much better for it. Either way, it’s a heck of a piece of work. They should re-theme everything and make this an original game so they could sell it.

Fix how? I didn't notice any bugs. Fun fact: If you get the lightning shield before you fight (it's literally in the room before the boss) you're invincible to most of its attacks. You just need to avoid the spikes to beat him.
