I actually don't agree with Aftermath's pricing for 2 reasons. 1, the base game is $50, making it 80% of the full price. 2, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Shao Kahn and Nightwolf are all big players in the story, but since they were from a previous Kombat pack, they still need to be bought separately to use them outside of story mode.

I will use this comment to compile my responses to the points made here. 1. My guess for why Liu Kang waits so long to challenge Shang Tsung for the crown is that his attempts at viewing the possible outcomes convinced him that Shang Tsung's knowledge of both the crown and Kronika made him a viable pick to remove her as a threat. If the threat to his allies became too much for even the Titan Hourglass to undo, then I have no doubt he would've stepped in sooner. 2. I agree with the comments that suggest Revenant Liu Kang limiting his use of that magic amulet because of possible limitations and/or drawbacks. 3. My guess for why Revenant Liu Kang chains up Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Fujin instead of trying to absorb their souls would tie into multiple factors. The fact that doing so without Kronika's approval runs the risk of going against whatever plans she had in mind. The possible limitations Kronika added to stop Revenant Liu Kang from becoming so powerful that he turns against her and becomes a viable threat. Whether or not Revenant Liu Kang would be able to absorb these souls without compromising whatever other uses he needs the soul absorption for. 4. The disconnect of game mechanics vs narrative is always a recurring pain in the plot. 5. Compared to Sindel, Jax escaped his Revenant control under largely different circumstances. This, in turn, raises questions about whether or not those differences would affect how much Sindel remembers of her time as a Revenant. 6. I totally support the theory that the green glow Cassie and Johnny Cage inherited from their ancestors in that one cult works as a countermeasure against gods. One that, like Lex Luthor's kryptonite weapons, works great against specific targets but only okay against everyone not on the list.

Another theory I have as to why cetrion is defeated so easily is unlike Shinnok who was op when he wasn't absorbed into the amulet and fighting the cages. Cetrion sees value in all life except for the elder gods that she intentionally makes herself weak so she doesn't severely hurt them. Like I said this is just a theory

About Elder Gods fighting, considering the astral forms we see them in when Raiden visits them, and Shinnok mentioning they can't be killed, perhaps to interact with the realms, they need to take weaker bodies and Cetrion simply isn't used to fighting in hers. Seeing as they killed Shao Khan easily when Raiden needed their help in MK9. With Shinnok being the exception to not a being fighter, as Cassie only beat him with the glow powers which are the god kryptonite of the MK verse.

Something occurred to me about The Trios plan to fight Cetrion. They had the Crown before she got there. Why not just have Fujin or Nightwolf quickly put it on (they probably might not let Shang Tsung use it for obvious reasons even if they dont kno hell betray them yet) and fight Cetrion with the Crown in their possession. The Briggs fought her just fine with it and without proper training to utilize it , and they were just as scared of her as The Trio was. Thisll also remove the need to revive Sindel, which in turn would let history/the timeline flow much more smoothly. Sindel would never betray the group/be evil, Shao Khan wouldnt reclaim Outworld, Liu Kang would be able to easily beat Crowned Shang Tsung, KK would be fully recovered, etc. Idk, theyre a ton of plot holes that coulda been resolved and that one just struck me

My theory could be taking the Crown out of the timeline before Kronika defeated is risky. Kronika was able to merge the timeline even without the possession of the Crown, who knows what she might be able to do if the point of intervene has her existance.

My biggest question regarding this storyline is, WHY did Liu Kang need Shang Tsung to defeat Kronika? He did so himself just a few hours ago from his perspective. It feels like he could've just stepped in at any time once the crown had been retrieved to take it himself and finish the job. The ONLY explanation I can come up with that makes sense is that it's possible the manipulation of time becomes far easier and safer once Kronika's soul has been absorbed (presumably into the crown since Shang Tsung was wearing it at the time).
