For those thinking of getting anything from Warlord they have temporarily reduced the "free shipping" threshold to £25/$40.

When I first played Bolt Action, I trier Japan. And in the list I was given I questioned "why do I need a tank when I can get more infantry-"

I like using slightly different colors for uniforms even in the same unit. Gives them that "lived in" look.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
I've also had suggestion to use Yellow Ochre from someone, which I imagine would look quite bright - maybe good as a faded variation on a theme. But yeah, 'uniform' isn't! Good mindset to have. :D
@themagicalcactus19414 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio That’s an excellent point. I think I might try to spice it up with the browns. Different wood on the rifles and different leather details.

This is a superb tutorial with fantastic results. I'm building a diorama of the battle of Guadalcanal at the moment and trying to get the perfect scheme for a densely packed Banzai charge, this video has given me some great tips, great work my friend - subscribed.

I would use Japanese uniform color for officers and soft caps...also for the puttees, English uniform is pretty good color wise, and gives a bit of variation to the overall uniform look.

Good tip! I'd usually reserve it for the helmets that have netting on them, but I've seen it done and it works super well. :D

Would you dry brush helmet netting with a lighter mix of the brown violet or use a different colour? @@SonicSledgehammerStudio Sorry just seen your later comment recommending Khaki or German Camo Beige!

Your guide is awesome! I purchased a paint guide from Warlords itself, and tried to come up with some colors that the store I went to didn't have, and was disappointed at my results. Your attention to detail, and overall presentation of how to paint these helps me understand and have more confidence moving forward. Do you have a recommendation on the colors for Special Naval Landing Force (SNLF)? Also, what brushes were you using (not the makeup brush lol)? They look like they apply the paint smoothly.

I have just watched this older tutorial. Super easy paint scheme! I love the German Camo beige for Canvas! It is a great point on the Japanese skin tone. But what paint would you use for yellow skin tone such as Mandarine Chinese soldiers, please?

'Amber Skin' from the new Army Painter skin tone range is a dead winner. Really easy solution there!

enjoying this guide, was wondering what you would recommend for the helmets that have the webbing on them?, maybe a drybrush of something before or after the wash?

I don't, more often than not. If I'm looking to make a leader stand out at the head of an army that'll go on a display shelf when I'm not playing I might bother with the eyes, but for your stock infantry you'll never see them!
