I remember, as a High School Junior, seeing the original broadcast of this, and being blown away by the idea of treating a "classic" with a "modern sensibility" Started a music career that spanned 50+ years!!! ❤❤❤

This puts a smile on my face but then also a tear in an eye, looking back being with loved ones who've now departed for heaven makes for a lonely Christmas. If you've a family who's not left for our heavenly home. Enjoy each and every moment with them as unfair one day, those memories might be the only thing putting a smile on your face come Christmas Yes dad but true

Christmas just isn't what it use to be. I have nobody to buy for as far as family. That's what I miss. I by for my pets and Toys for Tots which I enjoy but I miss the human aspect. Dad, Mom, Brother, all gone and all the ones left over have their own families or don't speak to one another. Or lost the Christmas spirit.

@@wynnssecret8882 I received your reply as I'm watching a King Family Christmas Special. I've been watching their Christmas Specials from the 60's (I remember watching those as a child). I thought getting your reply then was somewhat ironic. The specials brought back good memories and some sadness too. I wrote that two years ago I noticed. Christmas has been somewhat better this year and last. But once the parents and siblings are gone it's forever changed. Merry Christmas Belated and Happy New Year.

Nice to see one of the lovely Christmas shows of long ago in our used-to-be "normal" world. Thank you!
@kevinmarcus11506 жыл бұрын
this was pretty explosive of their child, and honestly, both Sonny and Cher look very stressed out, and yet they pretend to be happy, I am honestly glad it's much less "normal" to pretend and suppress rather than be yourself without any pointless judgement

"Guest Star William Conrad has a powerful vocal on The First Noel." When I saw this back in the day I was impressed with Conrad's operatic voice. Watching now, it appears Conrad was dubbed. The modern viewer is more suspicious of tricks like that. I wonder if anyone can confirm that is actually Conrad's voice. Thanks!
@tpajay4 жыл бұрын
It is his voice. He loved to sing & sang at Warner Brothers earlier in his career. Not sure what you meant about being dubbed but it's wasn't uncommon to lip sync to your voice from a recording studio so that it would sound perfect for TV show/movie. There's no mistaking that is William Conrad's rich, baritone voice. There is a book written in 2018 about him. It's called "William Conrad: A Life & Career". It talks about his singing.

@tpajay3 жыл бұрын
Linda was their cook & probably helped take care of Chastity (now Chaz). The reason I know this is because on an opening monologue of an episode of The Sonny & Cher Show (after divorce), Cher made mention of their cook, Linda, when she & Sonny were still married.
