Love her purple boots. They were in the news and newspaper every day. They were so much of our lives in those days...They were on TV each Sunday night. We waited for what Cher would wear. Cher was already married and pregnant by Greg by this time. It was a big deal back then.

George was obviously uncomfortable with this interview, and I have a feeling Johnny Carson would've been uncomfortable too interviewing a just divorced former couple. In fact, any guest Carson wouldn't interview for one reason or another would end up on a Tonight Show with a guest host. Steve Martin said in an interview that Carson didn't like him at first, so when Steve was on at firat, it was with a guest host, but then Steve warmed up to Johnny and he had him on. Goldie was obviously brought on to "save" George and it was obvious he and Goldie were good friends.

This episode is from July 14, 1975, she had married Gregg Allman and split with him for the time being...

She was basically done with him by 1977. Cher's situation was made fun of quite a bit on the Sonny and Cher show when they returned after being divorced. One question Sonny asked her was "So how was your three days of single life?" (Referring to that she had married Gregg just 3 days after divorcing Sonny) Cher quips "I was single for 2 years." Sonny gave a "sorta" gesture to the camera. She said "The Divorce Show" was actually quite fun for her... she always enjoyed working with Sonny.
