It's through MQTT of course but there is another way they I'm setting up at a friends house with two switches to send commands over WiFi only as he doesn't have any automation or MQTT broker and we just need something simple. Check out the WebSend command, it's great.

So I've been tinkering with this setup quite a bit lately. I think I've come up with a way to get the LED's to light up at will. Instead of using the HTTM switches which I'd been messing with I used a TTP223 which I had piles of sitting around. Then I put a round sticker on the back of the faceplate and painted the entire faceplate with black spray paint. After doing this I removed the sticker so I had a nice round transparent area on the front of the faceplate. Then I put an approximately 2mm thick blob of hot glue over the transparent area and pressed the TTP223 over the top of the blob. At the same time, off to the side I also stuck a red LED into the hot glue. I desoldered the LED from the SONOFF and ran a wire to my new LED and hooked the switch up to GPIO 14. From here you can run LEDSTATE to control the LED how you'd like. It looks pretty from the front I should be able to have the LED behave however I'd like!

Great Video Travis. This help me to add an AM312 mini pir sensor to a S20 switch. Everything worked great but I had to remove the "retain: false" from my HA configuration file. Rules RULE! - I finally got your Rule1 working between a Sonoff Basic and my MQTT connected Office Lights - the hardest part for me was getting things set properly in the Arduino IDE (settings in my_user_config.h and user_config_override.h) Maybe a future video would help other less-technical guys like me. - I hope to use Rules to control a sonoff iFan02 Ceiling Fan from a wall switch. That's a tough one. The new model is indeed a better design. There is gpio2 on the bottom but it is a fragile pad and you can't hold it low at boot if I remember correctly. I probably would try to trace out the LED and see if I could snip that off and use it as an input pin. You would have to change to a generic template but that is easy.

Here's what I'd do first to check your switch states. Make a rule to test them. Like this Rule1 on switch1#state do publish mytest/switch1 %value% endon Then make others for switch2 and 3 as well. Then test your switches and watch the log, then you'll know the states it is sending out so you can capture them. Once you do that it decouples from the relay.

Hi there. Great video and it seems to be exactly what I want to do. Only difference is I would like to use a push button and PIR sensor connected to sonoff, to control or turn on a Hue Light bulb? So if a hardwire mains power to to hue light via a standard light switch first. This way the hue light is connected to wifi and hue bridge. This also mean we can use home assistant to turn the hue on and off or dim via hue dimmers So now I would like to have the PIR on the same wall switch plate, so if we walk into the room, the PIR tells sonoff, (maybe via rules) to turn the hue light on, after no motion for 10min, turn off. 3rd part is having a push button on the same wall plate, to toggle the light via the sonoff on or off to bypass the PIR and 10min timer to stay on permantly, until I toggle again to go back to PIR control The final part is dimmed on after 10pm so guess this can be done via automation Sorry for long winded explanation. Hope it makes sense to you. Maybe a could send message direct or something Hope you can help. Still learning at HA hence my request for guidance Thanks for now Bruce

Are you using them in momentary mode as in the solder added? I believe mine are the 1n 2n etc for no pull up and I don't see them working light that. I will check this evening again.
