My like is for how incredibly smart and correct vince is, definitely not because 90% of his takes line up with my own.

I like that you don't have to give up a CP to use a mercenary Mega anymore. I don't play a full SoB army but do love allying them in.

It's definitely good that, between this and letting you take Freeblades more easily in 40K, GW has done work to address how big of an investment the big stompy armies are. It makes it easier to put down the cash for a big, expensive model, if you can easily use that model in other armies. Thereby also making it easier to build up a full force of them, when you decide you want to go all-Gargants or all-Knights.

I also enjoy allying them. Feels good to have a big centerpiece for any army

I would like to point out that Colossal Slam does something not dissimilar to something I suggested in a previous video: let Gargants move other units away from them. And according to the book, it's YOU (the one using the monstrous rampage) that moves the model and decides where it goes. So evidently, the designers did not have the same reservations on letting ppl touch the other players' models as Vince did when I suggested it. And if you can't touch the model for etiquette reasons, you still get to dictate where the model's owner has to move the model. As such, my original suggestion of Gargants having the power to make units back up was totally valid.

Oh yeah, it’s just you don’t move their model. It’s in the player code you don’t touch other peoples models without asking. In fact, I would assume in general, I am directing them where to move it. That sort of thing is okay, just not you moving their toys, physically.

The armor smasher artifact for smasher tribe is very interesting because of when it triggers. Since it happens during your attacks the opponent needs to decide to use all out defense beforehand, so it puts them in a tough spot. Essentially the threat of the effect can force the opponent into tough decisions.

Is the gameplan mostly the same? Yeah. Are the changes welcome? Also yes. Particularly with Brodd bringing some priestly prowess into the faction and spicing things up a bit. Just grabbed a box of three mancrushers (despite thinking the models are a bit too goofy for my taste) and will probably be grabbing a warstomper in the future for some fun 1K point games before building up from there.

I enjoy playing AoS 3.0 with my group of friends. Personally I enjoy the extra layer of having to plan ahead for battle tactics, but can understand those who don't enjoy having to remember even more stuff. I find the best way to play with newer players is to do Open Play but using points.

Obviously, since Terrain isn't Open Ground - that just means you remove that piece of terrain as destroyed by the slam! xD

Does anyone know how Archaon's sword interacts with the Sons rule stating that they take D6 MWs instead of being killed by an ability that wouldn't cause damage? Do the 2 attacks that wounded on 6 still go through to be saved against PLUS the D6 MW trigger (it doesn't say that the attacks are replaced by it) or do the 2 wounds on 6 get replaced by D6 MWs?
@VinceVenturella

Hi Vince great video looks like a really fun book, I'm trying to get back into AOS after a long break and looking at either picking up Sons of Behemat or Slaves to Darkness which do think would be the better option for options and long term play?
@VinceVenturella
@VinceVenturella Жыл бұрын
I honestly love both of those armies - we did a show here recently on the complexity/cost and so that has the full answer. Behemat is much simpler and easy to get going, S2D has a much bigger range and more resiliency over time. It's more about what you like, they are both great, though SoB is more new friendly.

@@VinceVenturella Hi Vince thanks alot for that reply really appreciate it, I've decided to get me some gargants just such cool models, I have question tho if you have time, when choose your general and that tribe so for example I go Gate Breaker and that means my army is the breaker tribe if I go bosses of the stomp for the extra artifact can I have a Beast smasha with the Mantle of tusks artifact or not as my army isn't Smasha Tribe?

I like that they upped the damage for the main weapons. Very appropriate. I also like that they unified the stats across the Megas... except they forgot to bring the three old ones up to the new one's bravery of 8. That discrepancy is bothering me quite a bit. As is the return to the annoying Longshanks rule. Also, I wish Mancrushers had 13 or even 14 wounds. Apart from those quibbles, looks like a decent book.

I agree with mostly everything here. My only gripe is that, if u want to play them not in a timmy way, trying to actually winning matches/tournaments, u will be even more conservative than before, running away from combat and tanking as long as possible, because the damage now is way too swingy. That said, this book is awesome and is now written with exactly the right type of player in mind. Gj GW.

When a unit has bravery 7 and contains 3 multiwound models, bravery rarely makes any difference ever. You have to remove two in one combat phase to have a sliver of a chance to lose the last one and the inspiring presence command ability means that any meaningful battleshock test will just get ignored anyway. I think GW are adding all the 2D6 over bravery abilities simply because the bravery phase is often obsolete. IMO The bravery system needs a rehaul so that it actually matters, regardless of army. we need less of the bravery 10 or immune to battleshock and we need more flavourful goblins and skaven having +d6 models flee every battleshock test failed.

I hate the "giant speak" and how they make them sound like idiots. The reason I am not interested in the army is because of that. I want to like gargants but I would prefer them to be more like frost giants from mythology, not big ole dummies.

Looks at all the Lumineths bravery. Yeah earth shattering roar is bad. Between the impact hits stomp or this. Guess I pick up my 10 man unit. If it's a 20 don't worry I will just run in battle shock cause ya know no inspiring presence. The roar is good against things with a ward. Like stone guard who would much rather you stomp them then yell. But no yeah bad. It's bad. Don't use it.
@Crimzy2304
@Crimzy2304 Жыл бұрын
I think the one unit this would be very good against would be Ardboyz as they have bravery 5 (6 with banner). Rolling an 11 would insta wipe a unit of 5, whereas a stomp is only D3 mortals. So even on a roll of 7 it's equal, and every other roll is better.

I don't think it's that bad, I think the win rate will fall a little, but I honestly do think it's better overall with the options available.
