Dropped by to show my boy some love and learn more about this lens!

OMG!!! Thank you so much for resolving my doubts about the vignetting caused by the 82mm filter on lenses with an 86mm size. If you use lens compensation, does the vignetting disappear? I have subscribed to your channel and given it a like.
@kylemeshnaАй бұрын
Vignetting compensation doesn’t help with 82 thread vignetting, no. That setting only helps with vignetting from the lens itself

Thanks for being real about this. Several other reviewers have said "it's fine" with a 86 to 82mm step down which makes no sense to me, optically. I will include the price of a 86mm NiSi VND and good UV filter in my buying decision.

Great video and very informative. Being someone who shoots mainly on primes, I decided to invest in this due to the constant awkwardness I feel when I swap out my lenses during a shoot. (At least 3-4x) I need a ONE and DONE and this seems like it's it.

Top tier, real world review! Even got the cartman appearance lol hands down I think the thread is the most annoying inconvenience you mentioned.

Haha thank you brother

My polar pro 95mm fine thread adapter for the 28-70 canon got stuck as well. Never had anything like it before, I think polar pro has something going on there.

Enjoyed this review, Kyle ! Personally loved shooting this lens in NYC, gotta get my hands on one for more testing in the outdoor space

Thanks man! Yeah it’s such a fun one. Would be stoked to see what you do with it

I wish they would have move power zoom for full frame. I love this len and the 24-70. But it is hard to use on gimbal without rebalance the gimbal everytime you zoom
@kylemeshna26 күн бұрын
This one doesn’t extend too much. If you’ve got something like the RS4 Pro I think you can get away without rebalancing

I normally shoot portraits with a lens belt with a 16-35GM , 55 1.8 zeiss and a 135GM. I don't shoot wider than 35 very often for portraits (but I use the 16mm end for landscape and real estate all the time.) I can see doing a whole portrait shoot with just this lens and the 135GM.

Have one ordered and on it's way to me. I have a stack of Nisi filters already but the Urth filters (plus+) have filters with 86mm threads and a good rep so I've ordered their circular polariser to try out. And a 4 stop ND with it, as that's about all you ever need if F2 is too bright in the Irish weather here 😆 Plus they plants trees when you buy one. Weight will be no problem as I often carry around a GFX 100 II with a sackful of lenses; including the 500mm which is nearly a pound heavier than this Sony.

Thank god polar pro makes an 86mm base filter!

Big same.
@Benayahu223Ай бұрын
Really? Why? Have you seen a direct comparison of the bokeh and iso vs the 2.8, which is lighter and cheaper?
@kylemeshnaАй бұрын
What about the 24-70 f/4? That’s lighter and cheaper and “only” stop of light difference
@BamsCam226Ай бұрын
I’m guess the lens has a coarse thread like the Canon 28-70 2.0 meaning the threads are wider. If so, you basically forced a baseplate not intended for it and striped the threads…
@kylemeshnaАй бұрын
Honestly sounds about right 😅
@BamsCam226Ай бұрын
@ 😬Sony should really let this be known if so…
@Benayahu223Ай бұрын
Almost all of these hype videos refuse to do a direct comparison against the 2.8 gmii. ...Because the F2 bokeh and ISO difference is basically negligible. The GMII is cheaper, wider and lighter...the F2 is a hype lens. Unfortunately...
@kylemeshnaАй бұрын
I mean I disagree. The 24-70GMII is lighter, cheaper and wider yes. But if you don’t get why an extra stop of light and sharper image is worth it (and more comparable to replacing a set of primes than replacing a 24-70), then I don’t know what to tell you
