I think this is perhaps the BEST video you put out. We can tell you put ALOT into this. The filming on location, traveling around Japan, the editing, the real life sample shots you used, the true life footage. I applaud you for your effort on this. You did great. Phenomenal video.

Hi, thanks for the review. I'm considering upgrading from a Sony A6300 (with the 16-50 kit lens) primarily because I want to improve the image stabilisation in my videos. Whilst I believe there's 'optical steady shot' in my lens, it's still quite jerky. Should I expect a significant improvement (steadiness) over my current A6300 + lens with a new A6500 (and a standard similar lens)? Many thanks.
@JasonVong7 жыл бұрын
+Paul Stewart hey Paul. I think you can expect it to be better as the 6500 uses more axis to stabilize

At 1:56 you mention having the AF drive speed at normal and track sensitivity at responsive. Were you using the 24mm f/1.8 then? Because mine won't let me adjust those settings with that lens. I'm wondering if this is a problem with my a6500 body or if you were using a different lens when speaking about adjusting those settings.
@JasonVong7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dhilan, Yes and I just confirmed again that the options are available to me with the 24mm 1.8. That is very strange. Would you be able to get your hands on another a6500 or 24mm to test?

I don't care about video or high speed photography. But I really like the colors and rendering of the Sony sensors a lot and how they work with vintage lenses via adapters. I would pick this camera over the A6300 too because of the great advantage of 5 axis in body stabilization. The ability to shoot at low shutter speeds and keep the ISO down in low light situations is a huge advantage. Even though the A6500 looks pretty darn good at ISO 3200, why go there if you don't have to? I can cap Auto ISO at 1000 or 1600 and get far less noise because the 5 axis lets me shoot at slower shutter speeds with no loss of sharpness.
@eggydrums6 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping whatever comes next for the 6000 line includes the new Z battery. If the a6700 would come with just that improvement, I would instantly upgrade from my a6000.

If budget isn't the issue, I recommend either the 16-70 or 18-105 as they are sharper and much more versatile. Otherwise, the 16-50mm will do the job.

Hi Jason! Nice video, I'm following you regarding your reviews! One question: Is the video quality in 1080p HD really so bad on Sony Alpha 6500 with 16-70 Carl Zeiss? I know that the lens is just a product under license and the name of Zeiss ist more marketing. But really, is the video quality of Sony Alpha 6500 with 16-70 mm so bad in comparison with Sony RX 100 M 5?Dpreview criticised the video quality in 1080p HD, being even worser than Alpha 6000, the old model. How about Carl Zeiss 24-70mm? Thanks in advance for advice!
@JasonVong7 жыл бұрын
In general, it's always best to shoot in 4K with the Sony cameras because it has better bitrates. I avoid shooting in 1080p because I too don't like how 1080p looks. You can always export in 1080p. But if you upload to KZbin, always export and upload in 4K. It will look so much better.

Hey there, as mentioned in the video, the overheating isn't entirely solved but the newly implemented "Auto Temp" feature prevents the camera from shutting off even if the heat warning comes on. I used the a6500 at a wedding the other day and it did get really hot. If you're worried about heat, I would advise to get a different camera.
