I plan on getting this camera August-October this year. Compact, IBS, Z Battery, 4k HDR video recording (perfect for future videos), perfect night time low light performance, perfect fast auto focus. Large sensor compared with 1 inch sensors and smartphone sensors. Will get the Sony a6600 kit version with 18-135mm Sony lens. There's been complaints about rolling shutter but surely there's a setting you can change.

In 4K 30fps the fullframe equivalent of a 12mm lens is NOT 18mm, because there is an aditional crop in that mode.

I’m mainly a photo shooter. Thinking about upgrading from my old NEX6 to either the a6600 or going FF a7iii and adding new lenses. A little disappointed in the FF heavy weight and lack of convenience. Decisions decisions.

Good review ... I think the only reason I would choose an a6600 over an a6400 would be the big battery. But probably that's not worth the price difference since I have a lot of the FW50 batts and dummy battery solutions that all work for the a6400. I do think that flippy screens are the future of all the Sony cameras, including the next generation of 6*** series cameras.

Hello there! Good review! How long can the a6600 with the USB power supply? I am planning to record 4-6 hours of non-stop video on 1080p 60fps at 50mb bitrate. Does the battery drain eventually while on USB power during recording? I also heard that the a6100, a6400, and a6600 do not split the file into 4gb so it one big file for the whole shoot (which is awesome). Does it overheat? If you have spare time, can you do a test on this unlimited recording option?

there's a serious issue of autofocusing for these cameras like 6100, 6400, 6600. due to its ultra-fast autofocus, it will always hunt for focus and it won't lock the subject. so there will be a serious background hunt if you are taking an interview-style video. Service centre agreed to the same and told me I can use only manual focus, till sony releases new firmware to resolve this issue. for runaround video/ vlog won't feel any issues, but you cant take a video of static objects like interviews

Hi, thank you for this review! I noticed two interesting thigs. First, At 1:45 when you walking the footage is noticeably shaking before shutter speed is reduced. At 2:23 it's the same - footage is shaking. I wonder if using a small tripod as a handle can reduce shaking? Second, starting at 9:32 I see that your main camera is constantly searching for better focus. It's visible if you look at the perforated leather on the left side of your chair and on the date and time on your screensaver. Please tell what camera + lens you used for this video when sitting in the room and was it focusing on your eyes or was it in some kind of auto mode? Thank you!

I rather you take it as a photography camera first, then a video camera. It has some nice video specs, but it's photo capabilities are great. Along with the cheap lenses in the E-mount, I think it's a good camera. Tamron has a new 17-70 f/2.8 which is a great zoom for all situations. If you wanna shoot portraits, the Sigma f/1.4 primes are good. 16mm and 56mm would be my top choice for portraits. The 30mm f/1.4 gives similar to 45mm in full frame equivalent, which is not bad as a general purpose lens.
