Lon, what other handy cam would you recommend that has audio / micro input. I have 45 days to use the Sony HDR PJ275 to see if I am satisfied. I am using this for home use for family functions and recording kids activities. Not sure if I will utilize the projector function. Is there a way to hook this up to a video game system to record gameplay? We purchased an HDMI splitter and hooked up the HDMI out ports to the camera and to the television. We hooked up the game system to the hdmi in port and the video game pops up just fine on the television, but there is no luck getting the picture from the television to replicate on the cameras LCD screen, let alone record the video that should pop up on the LCD camcorder screen. Any help would be great. We are using this Sony HD PJ275 camcorder and a Sony Playstation 3. Thanks.

So Amazon showed a Sony HDR-PJ275/B and I went ahead and purchased, when I received it the package and the camera says PJ275. Does anyone know 1) the difference between the 275 7 275/B and 2) does the 275/B really exist? I haven't been able to find anything on it.

I am confused as to how to connect my smartphone to this camera for viewing via projector. The camera came with a HDMI to micro usb which can be used to hook up a TV or a laptop to project. But as to hook up my Galaxy S5's USB 3.0 connection to a micro usb I am lost. Any insight? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for the video review by the way!

I did like the close up flower and the mail box zoom video, but I'm basically looking for a camcorder under $500, preferably $400, that can shoot good 1080/60fps video of things like flying aircraft at airshows and of flying remote control model aircraft. A camcorder that can cope well with videos of sunny clear blue skies to cloudy/overcast/light rainy skies. Also a camcorder that can take nice pictures, perhaps even while recording video without disrupting the video itself. So far I've been looking at Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and JVC brands I picked out based on random "Best Camcorders of 2014" Google searches, haha. Based on the Sony Camcorder website, I like the PJ275 as it's $400 and seems to have a better image sensor than the similar CX cameras in it's price range. Also the other PJ cameras in the same price range look to be discontinued (PJ230 & PJ340). I'm assuming the PJ275 is the 2014 model of these three? I really like the projector and would be fun to use as a second screen for my computer, especially when traveling or giving presentations. Lastly I like the remote wifi control, but I can't find much information on whether it can act as a remote wifi security camera like the Panasonic I'll mention next. Of the Panasonics, I like the V750 and the V550. I really really like the 550's 90X zoom when compared to the 750's 50X zoom, but the 750's image quality is much much better. Also I really like the Panasonic's Wifi Features with home/baby security monitor and auto recording, being able to talk remotely through the wifi and built in speaker, and the live stream lag is about a second long and not nearly as long as the Cannon R50-R52 camcorders as you went over in another video. Of the JVC's, I really like their rugged "Quad Proof" GZ-R10, R30, and R70, but based on video samples I've seen the sound emitted by the camera during zooming and focusing is unbearable. But having the ability to be fully submerged 16 feet and a drop rating of about 4 feet, that almost makes up the zooming sound. Also video seems to be about as good as the Panasonic V550, but the sound quality doesn't sound too good on the JVC. Probably because the mic is protected from water. I have not looked at the non-Quad Proof JVC's as I'd probably get the Sony, Panasonic, or Cannon, but I'd appreciate any input you'd have on JVC's other camcorders in the sub $500 range. Lastly, of the Cannon's, the R50, and R52 seem to be in my price range. The image quality looks excellant, but as you mentioned in another video, the Wifi lag is pretty high. But besides that, the videos look very nice. I think similar to the Panasonic's V750 and a bit better than the Sony PJ275. Sorry for the long message. I'm looking at buying my first 'real' camera, haha. I'm moving from a REALLY old Panasonic 'point and shoot' 7 mega pixel camera with 6x optical zoom that I've been borrowing from a friend for about 5 years, haha. I really like the Panasonic's wifi features and I really like the V550 90x zoom. Although the image quality of the V550 looks to be significantly less than the V750 and other cameras I mentioned. I'm open to the other camcorders, but my knowledge of their features and bang for the buck is limited. Your reviews on the cannon and sony camcorders were probably the best I've seen so far in my search. Basically I'm at the point where I'm looking for sample footage, mainly various outdoors and long distance shots. Do you have any reviews on the Panasonics I mentioned? Thanks again and regards :-)

Thanks Lon. Have you been able to try this camera mounted on a motorcycle or on the dash of a car, to see how stable the videos are? I have a canon FS100 and it works great on my motorcycle, but not hd. I then bought a canon HF R400 (upgraded) and it is terrible. I posted a video on youtube to see if anyone had any ideas why the HF R400 was so bad for stability. So now I am looking for a HD model with super stability. I do not like the gopro. the camera part is 1080, but the screen of the camera isn't high quality. try this: take a video and then put the video on a computer or tv and see how hd it is. it should be fine

Good review. I don't know if I should get this or the PJ540. The PJ275 is $350 and the PJ540 is $700. I don't know if the upgrade is worth it. And to me the projector is useless. I wish Sony didn't use the projector and had a touchscreen instead.
