Creators tried really hard not to design the characters as stereotypical tropes. A noble enough goal, problem is they went so hard for that at the expense of so much else they ended up with designs that don’t say or mean anything at all. Completely forgettable and communicate nothing about who or what a character is. Its good not to make characters stereotypical trops i feel the baby was thrown out with the bath water in this case they threw out character archetypes along with the stereotypes and while yes you shouldnt just stick to an archetype they can be useful as building blocks/starting point when making characters even if its to say 'well usually with a sniper you do X but why not try Y for this one'. Archetypes get knocked on a lot today but there is a reason certain things have become common archetypes they tend to be easy to understand and engage the audience and by ignoring the useful things there they as you said made very boring and forgettable characters.

The thing is, stereotypes are actually very powerful tools if you know how to play around with it (to make unexpected little surprises) in your character building. What Concord did was just lazy designing, staying away from the norm only for the sake of stay away from it in a checkboxes fasion, without giving them any depth and harmony as they stuff them all together. And the ultra-realistic graphic didn't help either for such color-vibrant aesthetic and childish-behaving "adult" characters. Even CP2077 gets somewhat weirdly cartonish at times (even with such grim settings) because of how colorful things are in the designs.

Firewalk/Concord COST 400m across 8 years (and even then, part of that was going to other studios, and it included things like facilities) Suggested that the real reason Sony bought Firewalk was 1. the track record of it's CEO seemed to indicate a winner, and 2. it has a lot of experienced developers who worked at Bungie they wanted to poach because Sony also owned bungie.

@@anonymous_2223 I only can speak for the FPS. The Bloodborne physics engine is directly linked to FPS count. If this limit is removed without redesigning the physics engine to be able to accept 60 fps a lot of this would break. It is not like it can't be done but the change would cost money. Current FromSoftware Inc. games are capped at a 60 fps cap. I only guess the Bloodborne is on 30 fps because of the capabilities of the PS4 APU. FromSoftware caps their games at this time at 60fps because their game engines tie physics and animations to the frame rate, which can break if it goes higher. They aim for stable performance on all platforms and keep the gameplay consistent, ensuring combat remains precise. Prioritizing stability over higher frame rates helps prevent stuttering and other issues that could affect the experience. More inclusive answer why they are engine behave that way.

I am glad that they did lost so many money. It just shows how much they lost the grip of their playerbase and what players like. Concord, Suicide Squad or other live-service BS should be erased entirely from the market and companies should stop being so greedy and trying to milk their consumers. So the more of those big companies flop the better for us since new studios open completely ran by devs which should have been so since the beginning. Of course, they are welcomed to return with products that have higher quality over quantity, and aim at delivering proper in-depth storylines with interesting world building and lore. It can't be that hard to concentrate more the creative side instead on a system via which you can milk endlessly a player... pointless.

Well - this is what happens you publishers and developers attempt to force messages and identity politics and what not into games. They tend to fail. People want to play games to get away from the crappy politics of the world, not to get preached at.

Still everyone is only talking about the dollars for the game itself. Tell me what a scrap of a full spectrum marketing roll out for the ps5 pro. A custom ps5 pro skins mouse pads keyboards custom ps5 controller, custom ps5 bundle. One CEO to another Bell come on, put your mind to that marketing cost right into the shitter! The damn ps5 control doesnt actually suck. No idea what they plan for all that hardware........ A few of the custom color scheme controllers made it into videos

They could’ve remastered a bunch of their classics and exclusives (besides bloodborne, is it Sony or Fromsoft that are not letting it happen?) for much less money and made much more in return. I know it’s obviously not that simple but just an idea. If anything, maybe they could be forced to remaster their classics just to make up for losses. Wishful thinking I know.

They paid too much for something that was trying to copy another game. And if they wanted another Star Wars, they succeeded. Because that failed too. Alienating your fans isn't the best strategy while trying to get another demographic.

I have been wonder for quite a while now if sony's style of making games with such massive budgets is sustainable in the long term because yes they have made some good games all it takes is one or two big failures like concord is now to potentially have a ripple effect across sony gaming division, will this cause sony exec above playstation to want to cut budgets to be more 'cost effective' or maybe cut anything that isn't a sure thing like a god of war or spider man game.
