@@AudioAdvice I thought about getting the new entry-level 5000, I must have put that thing in my cart a few times already this past week, only to cancel it. I don't have a "bat cave" per se. I use a grey 110inch 16:9 screen in a rather odd-shaped room with a high angled sloped ceiling (white), which almost practically illuminates ATMOS speakers, and the projector is a Sony ES45 1080P 1800lumans. The 5000 is 2000 lumens and of course, 4k. Wish they would have bumped it to 2200 lumens. My question is WHY did SONY replace the 4096x2160 SXRD chip in the previous models with only a 3840x2160 SXRD chip?
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
@@nebtheweb8885 Yes, the change is confusing but the reality is the 4096 x 2160 chip was designed initially by the SONY digital cinema division and then transferred to the home division, with home theater the most popular aspect ratio is 4K UHD 16.9(3840x2160) so the extra pixel structure on left and right was almost never used, also since the chip was wider(17.9), when using 16.9 screens there was a noticeable light overspread on left and right, especially when the screen was over a white wall. Since they were redesigning the new chip to make it more effective and with better contrast, Sony engineers decided it was appropriate to use the most popular aspect ratio for home theater use

@AKrumenacher Жыл бұрын
Reasons I chose this projector over the LS12000: I have a 120” 16:9 screen which is basically as wide as I can go in my room. Therefore, when I watch a 2.4:1 movie, my screen width is still maxed out and I can mask off the top and bottom bars. Lens memory is irrelevant because of what I stated above. Lack of HDMI 2.1 is an overblown excuse for not choosing the Sony. The truth is most PS5 games are really only targeting 4k60 anyway and a lot are still only in 1080p. When a game is played in 4k120, it is giving up a lot of fine details. Sony also makes the PS5. You would think they might have included that if they really thought it would make a notable difference. Lack of HDR 10+ or Dolby Vision also irrelevant as projectors will not be able to get anywhere close to the light output needed for those formats. The built in processor in the Sony will maximize what HDR image the projector is actually able to achieve.

Here is a silly question... is this better than the Sony VPL-HW45ES? Yes, I know the 45 is a 1080p vs the 4k of the XW5000, but both are manual focus and zoom. It seems SONYs not including motorized for both of those functions a downer. You can get motorized on an EPSON albeit it is a pixel shifter and for half the price. For 6,000 that should come standard. Also, how are the black levels and contrast levels on this xw5000? Does it do 3d?

Thanks for your question. There is no WIFI onboard. A lot of folks use a home theater receiver with their projector. For example, the LAN port will let you connect the projector to your home network for a stable hardwired connection with a home theater receiver or even to your router. The receiver would then allow you to connect up to two A/V sources out to this projector over HDMI cable. If your laptop has an HDMI output or another A/V output using an adapter, you could also connect an A/V source directly to this projector such as a laptop. There are other projectors that also could work this way. Come have a chat with one of our projector experts so that we can help you determine if this model is the right projector for your needs - audioadvice.io/aa-chat - Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

How can a projector be "Native" 4K? It's either capable of 4K resolution pixels projection, or its not. Native 4K CONTENT makes sense, that whether its upscaled or not.
@ryankramer2 жыл бұрын
It's the method of how it's achieved. The Epson 12000 for example uses 4 way pixel shifting 1080p panels and can display a 4k pattern of native 4k content. You could put it side by side with other actual 4k native panel projectors and probably not be able to tell a difference. But since the Epson doesn't use a native 4k panel in projecting, images in motion behave slightly different. In particular, if you were gaming in 4k with no anti-aliasing, you might see edges look slightly jagged. Now understand, you'd need to be standing 5 feet away from a 120" screen looking really close to see these differences. At the end of the day, from what I've seen in person, the pixel shifting is more than good enough for the perceived resolution, and the attention of the manufacturer should instead be placed elsewhere. (Better contrast, higher brightness.)

We like the Epson projectors as well. If you want to do a 2.40 widescreen, the LS12000 is a great value. But it is pixel shifting to get 4K and the Sony does have a better processor, however you have to more than double the price to get to the 6000 and lens memory for widescreen. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

Obviously an exciting release from Sony, and a great response to the recent JVC models. So great to see some more competition finally in this price range along with the Epson LS12000. Regarding 3D the writeup on Projector Central states that it does support 3D, so I think there is some confusion somewhere. HDR - how does Sony's system compare to JVC's dynamic tone mapping, which has been the gold standard in that for the last few years? Will be exciting to see full reviews come out on this.

Thanks, Sony told us the 6000 and 7000 support 3D with an aftermarket RF extender. Thanks for watching

Manual adjustments on a 6k projector....

Only used when setting it up.

@@nebtheweb8885 Not if it's ceiling mounted and moves around from all the bouncing from people walking and running above it. I have to adjust mine a lot and it's manual. I would be pissed if I paid 6k and still had to do that instead of using the remote.

Absurd no electric zoom or focus! I will stick to JVC, thank you especially for that kind of cash!

When does Sony will sell a new UST projector. Both XW5000 and XW7000 must be great projector but not suitable for a living room (WAF…)

Jvc are better and that is a fact not an opinion only drawback is that they cost more, laser one is twice the price of the Sony.

My $1700 Epsom produces 3000 Lumens. And a great picture, people are paying more just to say it’s more, not necessarily because it’s better.

Epson makes very good projectors for the money, however, their video processing is not up to Sony, but you sure can not argue with their bang for the buck value.
@Tracertme Жыл бұрын
But Sony doesn’t actually design and manufacture anything anymore I thought they were just a brand agent.
@AudioAdvice Жыл бұрын
That is not true. All of these projectors are made in their facilities from scratch. The only thing they do not make are some panels for their flat panel TV sets. Thanks for watching
@Tracertme Жыл бұрын
@@AudioAdvice okay so can you use these laser projectors with a IoT switch which will kill the power on command. I am asking because those with traditional bulbs would just break if you power them down without their cooling cycle.
@AudioAdvice Жыл бұрын
@@Tracertme you should not. There is still a short cool down

without demo all u said is useless and taken as fake and false.

Thank you for your input. Our team did do extensive tests on each projector in their home theaters. We only had a select amount of time to test before they had to be shipped back. It can be difficult to visually show the differences on camera (especially with KZbins compression) that we talked about on video but we will take it into consideration for our next reviews. Obviously the best way would be for you to see it in person so you can be the judge yourself. But for those who can’t, we want to provide our take as best we can for them! Thanks for watching!

@Zulfiqur Ali said _"without demo all you said is useless and taken as fake and false"_ - Lol, demos on youtube are limited to what you are watching on, compression, the camera that was used, and I don't think you could tell the difference anyway. Not like in person anyway. But, since you want to see a comparison on youtube. Here you go slick. . . . kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5jHc3h8f512Y8k
