Oh my God! I love this. I sang in Brooklyn Boro wide Chorus in 1968 in New York City. We sang an almost identical version of this. I love this soooo much. Brings a tear to my eye especially if you love choral singing like I do. Awesome!!! and Thank You!

Very interesting, I never heard this sung with such bombast. Different. I have been listening to various choirs sing this, and this group, as far as I could tell is the only one to have their first sopranos hit the top high note at the end. BRAVO!

This is a wonderful treat for my ears. Thought it was carefully and well done.About the nitpicking criticisms below--wonder if those people have ever done the exhausting work to get a chorale arrangement up to performance and how can they so easily disregard the energy, talent and emotion here?

Billy Evrard Ben Senga I thought there was too much sticatto. It really bothered me, as well as the massive crescendos. If both weren't as intense, I might actually enjoy this version of the song
@graceb7896 жыл бұрын
I thought the tempo was too slow. If it was faster it would have conveyed the urgency more effectively.
@alligatorboy20006 жыл бұрын
This is actually one of the fastest performances of this song. The tempo on the sheet music is actually a whole lot slower than this, but honestly the sheet music is just wrong there.

At times the sticatto and crescendos were very embellished, and there was one bass that was always late getting off of the d on god. Overall not a good version of the song.

Umm....the voice treatment of the tenors is too harsh...turned me off. apart from that it was okay
@ambah_marie14207 жыл бұрын
coming from a choir member POV, it was very uncomfortable to listen through this. Vowels were funky, there were little to no dynamics at all and overall my ears hurt.
@nathancorbett9996 жыл бұрын
Purple Sparklez614 I actually think the dynamics were very embellished. The crescendos were just ridiculous
@devinengle20436 жыл бұрын
Dynamics were very much embellished

I’ve sung this piece before and it’s just generally weird. Dynamically and rhythmically. They sang it how it was written
@borribibrace55216 жыл бұрын
little to no dynamics? I hear a huge range, considering the sheer size of the choir, and this is one of the better renditions I've heard. the arrangement's lyrics are written with the funky vowels and pronunciations, so that's also a huge factor in that. But none of this is on them m8
@BuzzLightyear99996 жыл бұрын
Purple Sparklez614 ...Meh... if you actually knew enough about what you’re talking about to be taken seriously (which you don’t and you aren’t...) you’d at least know to use the term “chorister”...😏
@jalenrudolph56545 жыл бұрын
The men are too harsh and aggressive You can tell they took what the director said and ran with it. And they also need to pay more attention to the direct some people what coming in late or too early

Personally, I think they should be using a more accurate dialect and not sound like white people cuz that's not what it's written for. Example: Soon ah will be done ah wit de troubles ob de wurl. Gohn hohm to lib wit gohd
@warreneckels49457 жыл бұрын
It is very hard to imitate another's vernacular well, and there is a long American history of white people using "dialect" in racist jokes. Also, just which vernacular would be the accurate one? The African-American Vernacular varies by location, and within the samle location, it diverges from Standard American English to differing degrees. It's probably better for this choir to leave well enough alone...using "ah" for "I" is daring enough.
@MrGoreasm7 жыл бұрын
The sheet music itself uses the black dialect as well, they could at least try to sound how it should be sung.
