I've been using one for over a year. It is so light, you do not feel it on your side. It shoots and shoots well and I love the sights. I like the mag release. I carry it with me whenever I go hunting or in the woods. I have nicer-looking ones but none that I enjoy carrying or shooting more. I did polish the sides of the "sheet metal" top and re-blued it. It had tool marks from when they stamped it out. It is a porcupine slayer.

I had several jams and misfires on my new P17, and was disappointed because my friend recommended this as a reliable firearm. I brought it to the KelTec factory not far from my house, and the folks there were as friendly as could be. They replaced the main slide spring and made several adjustments, all of which they documented. They made the repairs under warranty and sent it back to me at no cost, all within a week. I could not be happier with their prompt service. Since its repair, my P17 has been 100 percent reliable and never jammed or misfired after an entire box of 500 Remington Thunderbolt high velocity rounds. Even standard velocity Federal rounds fire every time. I have this ammo because, if you remember, it wasn't long ago when we had few choices of what was in stock. The gun is comfortable to hold, easy to shoot and accurate enough to keep a three inch pattern at 50 feet.

@@ranchlife8128 It’s already happening. I have the Kel tec .22 mag and that fucker jams all the time just like the pos rifle. Rim fire is not reliable
@ranchlife81284 ай бұрын
@jameswilson4732 Mine is 100% reliable. Try the American Speedloader for both, it's a game changer. It loads the rounds precisely and quickly. Loading the rounds is 95% of people's problem with both firearms. Even as careful as I was loading, I would get jams sometimes, but as soon as I got this loader it was 100% reliable magazine after magazine. The PMR 30 is my field gun here on the ranch and I have dispatched many a snake and critter with it. I promise you will not regret it. As far as my "it will never happen" statement, I was referring to 5.7 catching on and that ammo getting cheaper. It's a great round but will never replace .22 or .22 magnum for what they're intended for, but it would be a nice addition to that line up. The 5.7 round by nature and being centerfire will never be cheaper, but hopefully the price does come down some. As far as rimfire reliability, out of the thousands and thousands of rounds I've shot over many years, the reliability has been 100%. I've heard that before, but never experienced it myself.

The great thing about this Kel Tec is that its already ugly and cheap so you don't have to worry if it gets scratched up and can just just enjoy it anywhere without babying it. I know the TX22 is like a more traditional 9mm, but they've had some problems with the front part of the slide that comes down to retain the recoil spring assembly cracking and even breaking off because its made of aluminum and can suffer from metal fatigue sometimes. Glad that Kel Tec went with a steel slide assembly that looks about an eighth of inch thick which will never get fatigued from the forces imposed on it from a 22 LR round. It also has a fixed barrel which is simple and tends to be more accurate.

Well I bought this pistol and was pretty excited to take it to the range two nights ago. To my surprised I had three jams at the ejection port, two no fires ,because the safety would move about an 1/8 " up from my thumb touching it. I went through a box of Aguila 38 grain 250 rounds that I split between the Kel-Tech and the Taurus TX22 that I bought. I had no jams or any issues with the Taurus. They both shot extremely well but that sort of pisses me off when my brand new gun jams three times the first time ever shoot it. I'm going to give Keltech a call today and see how the customer service is. It's a fun little gun but that right there shows me that I don't want to carry that pistol for self-defense unless they can do something at the factory to to remedy this.
