I just had sopes for the first time yesterday. They were so good I and wanted to learn how to make them authentically and found your channel. Your grandmother is so precious. Seeing you in the kitchen with her reminds me of cooking with my grandfather who was a chef. Back then video cameras were too expensive to record his lessons but I have the memories. Thank you for sharing your grandmother.

abigail morales mix a little less than 1/4 of flour into the maseca. And always use hot water when you’re mixing it.

en mi familia los hacemos igual, se me antojaron. el unico paso diferente que hacemos es calentar el sope en un comal primero para que se cosa la masa y doblar las orillas como ella. ya despues las freimos. :) pero el mismo resultado

I just happened across your channel when looking for a tortilla recipe, then ended up watching many of the videos. My Step-mother's family is from Mexico and I wanted to make some authentic food for her and I think I have found the best teachers. I usually make my own queso fresco, but I just had my 4th baby, so I'm too tired. Haha! I like to use queso fresco on tacos, sopes, and enfrijoladas. I like to save the cojita for making corn. I'm not Hispanic, but my husband is from Mexico. I've taught myself how to make Mexican dishes for him.

What a beautiful thing to share your family like this. My family on my dad's side is from Tendeparacua and moved to Zamora. I don't get to see my grandma often enough but this put a smile on my face and reminded me house precious life is and how important it is to cherish and pass down our traditions.
