I've wrestled with the Vogue V2960 vintage/retro dress sewing pattern and altered it to fit me. I have sewn this dress before and it was an absolute disaster as the fit was awful and the instructions are very confusing. This time I did several mock ups/ toiles to get the fit correct. I raised the back neckline as I didn't want to show that much skin at a daytime wedding and I think it will be more wearable (therefore more sustainable) with a higher back neckline. I used a green linen floral fabric from Spotlight that was lovely to work with and I'm very pleased with the result. I didn't do the bound button holes as I didn't think it was necessary as the fabric is patterned and the buttons are a feature in themselves so it didn't seem like it was worth the effort! The buttons are vintage old stock and I think they go beautifully with the fabric :-)
Next up is the 'Julie', after Julie Andrews, and the outfit is comprised of a full pleated skirt and a fitted shirt/blouse in another floral lightweight cotton fabric. I am working on this outfit at the moment and I hope to have that out by next week. That is technically 'Suit C' from my vintage inspired capsule wardrobe plan • Fabric Haul | Vintage ... .
