Using the same shirt retro/vintage sewing pattern that I used for my Audrey Hepburn jacket, I created a fitted shirt out of what was essentially a loose 'boxy' unfitted shirt pattern. I wanted to use this pattern so that the collars on the shirt and the jacket would work well together so that I could wear the jacket over the blouse. I had a few fitting issues as the shoulders on the shirt pattern were too broad (or my shoulders are too narrow!) and I also added cuffs on the sleeves for more detail. I made the sleeves a bit longer than on the pattern as well as I prefer that length on me.
I have almost finished the skirt that goes with this shirt , making it visually look like a shirtwaist dress, but I had a few issues with the pleating so I decided to make that a seperate video so that this one was not too long! I will put that video up next week and reveal the whole 'Julie Andrews' look.
The inspiration for this look is the curtain outfits that Maria makes in The Sound of Music for the children. I love the floral patterned fabric, and with the full skirt, it just reminded me of that scene in the movie :-)
That is 'Suit C' from my vintage inspired capsule wardrobe plan • Fabric Haul | Vintage ... .
