Well hellooo! 🥰👋 So excited to see your small sewing room as I also have a small sewing space which also serves as my office and art room. I enjoy your videos so much. ❤

Great sewing room. So inspiring to see what can be done, as we all shoe horn our ‘sewing room’ into a corner of a room somewhere. Mines in a corner of my garage along with the washing machine, fridge, DIY, Xmas decs etc, etc. Maybe you could put Audrey on one of those big circular plant pot holders that are on wheels, well I think they are intended for moving very large plant pots but the use is as big as your imagination allows. They have them in B&Q here, not sure what the equivalent DIY depot is for you but you could make one with wheels and a piece of leftover wood!😁

I really love your space. It's very well organized for all the jobs it does. An idea for Audrey's stand: put felt pads under the legs. It won't scratch the floor and will be easier to move.❤

Thank you for your beautifully detailed tour. Knowing the dimensions of your room puts everything in context. Love your ingenuity and how much you’ve set everything up to help you reuse and repurpose! Plus it looks like a lovely space to work in 💕

Wow. Love it. In Canada we have these slider things, they are usually gray, and probably not a natural material but they slide beautifully on hard surfaces, and also on carpet. They could be useful under Audrey, if you cannot do wheels. I have just moved my sewing room to the basement, better light than the available rooms on the main floor. And being a basement (in Canada) it is carpeted for winter warmth, so I have the sliders under my cutting table, instead of wheels which do not like carpet.

my craft room sewing room is also my bedroom. also i dont have a closet. Its a tiny bedroom aswell.maybe put thick sock or make pockets of felt and put them on on Audrey so she will move smoother and not scratch? i did that to my dinning room chairs because they scratched our new wood floors(we rented)

Great use of space . Nice how you repurpose items. You could fill out Audrey the mannequin’s hips using quilt batting and foam.

If you can’t figure out how to put wheels on Audrey, try those felt pads with adhesive that are designed so furniture doesn’t scrape wood floors.

Gave away the last two pair of jeans because too uncomfortable. Going to make my own if I can’t find any that suit. Finding elastic waist better. But will make some fitting for summer maybe.

Such great use of space! It reckon you're a bit like me. I use the same skills/eye/muscle to spot space for productive/creative potential whether I'm making the most of my minute garden, tiny kitchen or postage sized studio... It's sometimes a little Heath Robinson but it sort of works. I imagine having the windows to the front and the side really help your sewing room/creative studio feel more spacious than it actually is.

I have a recommendation for putting wheels on Audrey. Try to build a “skate” from a piece of plywood on which you attach four wheels. I would then bolt Audrey’s stand to the skate. Love your content 💗

We call them yard sticks if they are a yard, kids say in science they had meter sticks..... not sure they typically ever used metric otherwise, but apparently science did.

Howdy, From Texas, USA, that was interesting. I have a little larger space but the room doubles as a second guest room that haas to be packed up whenever company comes. Most of my supplies are in cabinets that I have thrifted and added wheels to so they can be wheeled to the garage and the Murphy’s bed pulls down. We all have our challenges and simply “ make do”. All of our treasures are on loan from our Creator to use wisely for his glory!

I’ve enjoyed this so much! I’ve just bought a copy of The Curated Closet but not started on it yet. My problem is that I’m trying to do too many styles and mastering none of them. I absolutely love the story idea, it’s much more visual in my minds eye than a mere 3 words. I am very much looking forward to your winter capsule wardrobe.

Jenny, this is brilliant! "Elyse... I'm sure she was in the French Resistance" totally cracked me up! I've been using a similar approach and call my style Interwar Suffragette librarian x Scandinavian Artisan/Sculptress with a twist of Flemish Primitive chic... This last one is in jest because I'm usually bundled up in hand knit woollies over my linens, cords or tweeds due to feeling the cold and invariably wear Birkenstocks or ankle boots due to chronic pain in my feet. My levels of formalities is also very much a scale of muckiness and grime as I am usually up to my arms in muck, clay, flour, ink, spinning fibre...

Nice to know I am a pretty cool lady (I wish!). I really don’t have any of that French vintage chic despite the name lol. Love this series. Another approach I have used is to look at style for different situations. I need different types of outfit for dog walking/gardening versus a day out with my friends versus a date with my husband. I guess this is a combination of formality combined with levels of murkiness. I have looked at the % time I spend doing different activities and that’s the % I need have in my wardrobe. So I need really really nice pjs as I spend a lot of time in them lol. Then I need a lot of casual wear but realised I wanted to elevate my basics for most activities. Wearing scruffy clothes just makes me feel bad about myself. So much of what you said resonated with me.

Haha! Good idea, yes, I totally get that!

Thank you so much for the explanation of the theory and the actual practical demonstration. I have thought about making a croquis but have always thought you need to start with a garment pattern and that it would be too much trouble to draw the intended pattern design on to the croquis, thinking I had to somehow transfer a pattern exactly and make it fit. What you have done is designed what you would like directly on your croquis, and then of course you can find or hack a pattern to suit and make your design come to life. Love it!

What great ideas! The formality scale never worked for me at all -- 99.9% of my life is parked on the "super-casual" end of that scale, and trying to break down my activities into the different formalities really made me feel like a slob. 😄 The 3 words didn't help much either, I think I could only ever get it down to a witch's dozen or so. But stories and "muckiness" (in my case, sweatiness) might just fit the bill perfectly. Thank you for this series!

Technically "classic, vintage inspired, & French chic" are five words, but the way you and others use "French chic" & "vintage inspired" they function as a compound words that are nouns, like "ice cream" which has a totally different meaning than the words ice & cream have when used alone. So these 5 words are in fact 3 words, two of which are compound nouns. Feel better? I call my style Midwest chic, and my three words are classic, current, and comforting (not comfortable because all clothes should be comfortable). Comforting is about how my clothes help me as a human service professional relate to others, a question of function that is a key value for me. I hope the joy I find in wordsmithing helps you find joy in yours. ❤
