This is just friendly advice from seasoned eBay seller. List ALL your items as you bring them in. Do NOT go out and buy more items if you have not listed all the items you already have to sell. Overbuying or having a "death pile" is an easy way to accumulating STUFF you really don't want to keep. Trust me I KNOW! Best wishes, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!

I started picking and selling since last summer. You can certainly make a job outt of it. If using Ebay your fees with a minimum store is 4.95 a month for thestore, then 10% if in good standing and then paypall gets 3% then add shipping. When you get he minimum store level, there are accounting summaries for the business in detail in which you can review that has all details per item. My average sale rate is 51% profit on an item after deducting fees.

I’ve been a eBay seller for well over 10 years(not full time but every now and then) I actually found a Gucci bottle opener for .80 cents and knew it would make me some money it sold for $80 bucks! It was a month before it sold but hay that’s how selling works sometimes! I have a very old video on my channel one of my first videos posted and I’m sharing some of these selling tips. Have fun selling and thanks for sharing Sophia! 👍🏾💐💜

Great challenge! I remember you used to dabble with ebay years ago. That Tupperware tray is not missing the bowl and the lid is actually used to hold ice under the veggies and dip to keep them cold. Back in the early-mid 80s I had young SAHM's friends that sold Tupperware with the home party nights.

Sophia, I love to shop on Ebay and just looked at your store after watching this and noticed you don't have the price listed for shipping. If you take the extra time to get the prices for shipping listed it will definitely help your sales! I never even click an item when shipping isn't listed, never mind bid, because I've heard bad stories of buying something for almost nothing and then being charged 30 or 40 for shipping. Sorry just wanted to give you this tip as someone who does purchase from there a lot! Also, if I see "Free Shipping" I know it's included in the price, but for some reason, I am more likely to buy with free shipping even if the item costs more than if I see a good price but then a shipping fee! So, if you took say the camera and made it 20 dollars with free shipping, i think you would get a lot more action! Just my opinion!! Good luck and have fun!!!

Ooh, this was fun. I love antiques, my whole kitchen is vintage or made in the USA. Nice Corningware, I never saw the extra pieces before. I have noticed people will pay more on Etsy, it seems more like pleasure shopping as it has to be brand new crafty or over 20 years old, while the bargain hunters shop eBay and filter through all the junky stuff if they shop on individual stores. Good luck, looking forward to the results. I have lots of antiques from years of shopping that I procrastinate listing, maybe you can get me motivated...any tips are most welcome!

I bought a purple Chantal tea kettle at Habitat for Humanity ReStore for maybe $8 max, they go for around $100. At Goodwill, I got a brand new RainMate (if you're familiar with Rainbow vacuums and accessories, you know how $$ they are) for 2 bucks. A vintage aluminum cake dish with cover, etc..I don't know brands and antiques at all but I tend to have a good feeling about stuff. Good luck!

My aunt has had some corelle in that pattern in small cereal bowls, my cousins and I grew up eating off of them. As an adult I am amazed at how they are so sturdy and reliable even after years of countless kids in her kitchen eating off them. I can't wait to get my own Corelle set so my kids can use great dinner ware that I know will last.

$3 for the Tupperware is great! It is missing a bowl with a lid that you could put in the middle so if there are any leftovers, it could be taken out and put in the fridge. The selling point for this item was you could do tacos, putting the shells in the 'lid' and extras in the sections, veggies and dip like you said, and also if there are things you want to keep cool, you put ice in the lid and set the sectional on top. I still use mine.

You two are so funny! And normally I really enjoy your videos. But I do have a bone to pick. I use Goodwill and Thrift stores to buy things I can't afford otherwise. And I've noticed a trend of people going to these places and other low cost stores and buying a bunch of stuff and turning around and selling them for profit. (Actually saw someone buying in bulk at Walmart and turning around and reselling them!) The result is that now these places are learning that and the prices at. Eg.: I went to buy an item yesterday that was priced three times what I could buy it for at the Dollar Store! I know you won't be doing this on a regular basis, but I think you might want to think this through before everyone and his brother is taking advantage of those of us who truly can't afford to do this. It's not a game for us. I must say I'm dismayed and disappointed in this practice.
@heidemebus92845 жыл бұрын
That is what came into my mind. I:m donating good Things to charity Shops, so People that can't afford it can purchase it for Little Money. Not for People who might sell it with Profit.

Don’t fret. There is plenty of stuff to go around. Most thrift shops have their own e bay and Amazon shops that they sell items “picked” before things go on the floor.
@angelajthorpe5 жыл бұрын
I read this past month that donations to thrifts stores are up 20-40% across the board because of the Konmari videos that were released on Netflix in January. Thrift stores have been overwhelmed with donations.
@badvegan5 жыл бұрын
@@heidemebus9284 Most people who shop at thrift stores can afford to shop other places, but they prefer not to spend more money on something if they don't have to. I can afford high-priced groceries, but I'm still going to shop at Aldi to save money, for instance. The money earned from the sale of thrift items goes to help people no matter who buys the items. And people who use thrift stores because they genuinely can't afford to buy new things are getting things like clothes, kitchenware, and things they really need, not the collectible knick-knacks and mostly cluttery items that people tend to resell.
@kayerin57495 жыл бұрын
@@badvegan With all due respect, I do shop for some things to beautify my home; just because I'm poor doesn't mean I don't take pride in how my home looks and I want to make my home as charming and pretty as possible; Decor is not just a luxury of the well to do. I do see what you're trying to say, but dismissing the poor as only needing "basics" is probably not what you meant. Again, my point is people who take advantage of the system and essentially scam others to make a profit are the focus of my anger. I also must say that the Dollar Store/Dollar Tree type store have been a big help in finding ways to create/use items to decorate that are not unduly expensive. It is just that it used to be I could find a few excellently made items that were truly special at an affordable price. I know that GW does a lot of good, but that does not excuse charging exorbitant prices for certain items, like almost five dollars for a sprig of faux greenery!

Sophia, out of curiosity, would you please add time to your spreadsheet? The hours you shopped, time you spend washing things, photographing and listing time, packing time (and any time you spend either ordering or shopping for supplies), post office time, etc. because I would be super-interested to know what kind of 'hourly wage' it turns out to be to do this. I always acknowledge that people have both educated themselves about what's valuable AND probably spend more time than people realize doing it. I think you need more time than money to resell, no? You have a whole lifetime of appreciating and collecting especially the tchotchkes. I'm sure you can spot these things a mile away. It's a honed skill..... xojennyinseattle
