In Chanel's defense....i've talked to a Chanel SA before and the Chanel bags are meant to be worn on one shoulder only...not cross body. Its purposely done that way and they actually AREN'T meant to be cross body. Because I too was frustrated with the length and that's when they told me about it.

Omg! This is by far one of your best videos. First, I really enjoyed seeing this side of you ~ love your sense of humor, more specifically your honesty (with humor added) on these very expensive bags. The points you made regarding each bag (good/bad) is not only true but extremely helpful because it is only after you buy the bag you really know if it’s going to work for you. I've bought many designer bags; the ones I keep are the crossbody (I'm 61), and I won't spend money on any other brand but Chanel, anymore. I sold my classic double flap 2014 black caviar shw and replaced it with a Trendy classic black woc and a classic gray woc...No regrets.

Sophie... this is a great video! I do think you are right that the bags you deem the worst with straps that are too short are not meant to be worn cross-body, but I can see how many people would thing they are meant to be. For the Chanel Boy Bag I agree the handle is ridiculous... I think a solution to that one would be to remove the strap and add one of your own that is the length you prefer. There are so many replacement straps available online these days... I know it is preferable to have a Chanel strap... I wonder... does Chanel make any straps that you can buy on their own like Dior does. With the newer wide strap styles it would be great to update an older bag with a new style strap... This was a great video to show people some real features of the different bags.

I agree the boy bag strap is super annoying, but it shouldn’t twist on itself like that. Yours is threaded incorrectly. If you undo the leather part you can take it off completely and then thread it through correctly.

Hello Sophie! Another great video! I had the same problem with my Chanel Boy bag so I took it to my S.A. She got another S.A. to work on it and if you pull the leather strap through the rings, the chain won’t “fold” over like that. It has made my Boy bag a bit longer so I can wear it crossbody! The SA was saying that when the leather goes completely through the rings, it starts to do that weird, fold thing. Xxxx

Great video. This is a pet peeve of mine. So annoying when you spend so much money on a bag and it is clunky and non-functional. One really good one for crossbody is the Chloe Tess bag. I bought the larger size...it has a thick strap that is on a pivot.....so the strap never twists the wrong way. I have worn it over jackets and it is great....very comfortable on the shoulder. Fits phones in the front pocket, small wallet, keys and glasses easily. I am thinking of getting the smaller one as well. Glad you showed the differences in the Dior bags before I spent my hard earned money!

This was brilliant the last comment about test driving the bag made me laugh. I’m 5’10”. I live in the north east I wear huge coats for eight months of the year I have learned to never considered any of these bags for crossbody wear I figured out a while back that the only bags that work are the Felicie by Louis Vuitton or the Chanel wallet on chain’s. Because I only wear my boy on the shoulder I don’t have any of that hair pulling issue. it stays on my shoulder nicely The leather bit is so soft and all the twisting business doesn’t seem to happen. Some of these expensive design houses really should not advertise them as being cross body except for people that live in warm climates or who are petite. Bottom line a cross body strap has to have a range from 50+ inches down to maybe 42 for people that are petite

Topaz Nora Chanel classic flaps in the small and medium sizes are absolutely not MARKETED BY Chanel as crossbody bags. They are shoulder bags. The mini is a crossbody, and the jumbo has a very long strap that can be worn crossbody.

The chanel boy strap can be taken off, and then put back on, by going through those two rings, with two leather ends stretching out at two sides. And then, you can connect two leather ends with them overlapping on top of the metal chain. In this way, when you pull the leather strap to wear it across your body, the metal chain should not tangle up on the ring. I never own a chanel boy, so I might be wrong. Hopefully it works.

Literally all my bags except for one can be when cross body they are the best length on me I have valentino ysl and givenchy antigona and Im super happy with them. The chain strap at around 4:35 is a spiga link and it's gorgeous! A box chain has more solid box shaped links that interconnect, whereas the spiga has 4+ links per section that interlock with 2 behind them and 2 ahead of them to create that rope effect!

I must admit I had never heard of you until I stumbled across this video (I don't know why but it popped up in my feed and I must've needed something new to watch). And now, thanks to you (and my suggestible personality) I have just ordered a Mylockme BB. Not a big deal, one may think... except that I really dislike LV!! Their coated canvas feels disgusting and I have sold every LV bag I have ever stupidly bought. Actually the jumbo size has a much longer chain than the other sizes and is thus a perfect crossbody. The other sizes all have super short chains

Robert Lenach the jumbos don’t look good crossbody on everyone. They’re too big and too long. The reissues up to the 226 look good crossbody and can be used that way because their chain is long enough.

Love your videos, Sophie, but not all bags were designed to be worn each-and-every-which way! Let’s face it, when the Chanel classic debuted, ladies would never have carried their handbags crossbody. They were either hand-carried, on the arm, or, daringly, on the shoulder. It’s interesting that the reissue, the first Chanel, has a long enough strap to be worn cross body, but I think that is just coincidental. The Chanel Boy bag works crossbody if you are shorter. I am 5’4” and wear mine crossbody, if I want. No problem. You are so highly rated, that I expect you have put people off the Chanel Boy!!

OMG. The YSL bag that gets itself twisted. I have a Prada crossbody bag (it's designed for crossbody, no top handle at all) that does that! If I don't engage the magnetic closure, sometimes I stand up, one side twists, and sends all of my belongings toppling to the floor. It's so annoying! Terrible design flaw.

I’ve never had those issues with my Boy, I love mine! My chain doesn’t twist, it lies flat, and my hair literally has never gotten caught in the tabs. In another video you also mentioned issues with closing it, I have never experienced that either. Just a simple tap and it pops closed. I don’t know if they improved the design since I bought it later than you did, but my Boy has never had any issues I’ve noticed others point out...
