So amazing! what does the outside texture feel to touch, a bit tacky? when I did mirror glaze on small cakes I thought it would harden but it didn't but it did glaze shape held. I just wanted to see how it felt when completed :-)---- Sometimes it may be me :-)

Hi Mary! Fellow Iowan here. First, thank you for your marvelous tutorials; they are just super! Question: On this cake, after driving in the dowel, how did you cover it up? I assume you had already placed the mirror glazed-top on the cake, so not sure how you concealed the dowel. Thanks!
@sophisticakesbymary Жыл бұрын
Where are you from? I just covered it with a little peice of fondant and melted down the extra mirror glaze and filled that in.

Stunning. With a future video, would you do time and cost breakdown? These cakes seem very intricate: many steps and speciality ingredients like the gold with clear gel (your other video). AND how much would you charge for such? Funny thing is,.. your video showed up in my feed. I don’t bake! I do epoxy pours and furniture art! 😂

Absolutely gorgeous. 💜 love the coloring of the cake. There are so many wonderful things to say about the cake that this post would go on and on. When you store it in the freezer the piece is so long what type of freezer do you use? Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
I have a small chest freezer and a regular household fridge/freezer and it fits in both of them. But if you did anything bigger then 6", you would need something bigger.

@@sophisticakesbymary yes it is wafer paper but with ticker texture. I will try satin ice then let you know. Thank you

You know, I wish I could and I have tried maaaaany times. It has been frustrating to find a simple way and I want to accommodate everyone, but the only way really to do it is to type out everything I say and then it can be translated. But I say a lot, and I honestly don't have time. I am so very sorry:(:(

Auggggggh This is giving a run for my money.... My acetate kept sticking, I had it in the freezer for 26 hrs and it's set at -4' my ice cubes freeze in like a couple hrs. Not this! It stayed sticky. I used shortening, and that didn't make a difference for the top, so I just picked it and placed it on the cake, trimmed, then went to the side. Got it on the cake, was so ready to have to fight to get the acetate off but it came right off no prob. But I guess on both I used too much shortening, trying to keep it from sticking, and now there is a greasy film on the cake. I tried to brush it off with a paper towels, and not sure that really worked... So to get rid of it, I torched the cake! Lmao I grazed the torch of the cakes quickly lightly, and kept it moving so not in one spot to long. Just enough to melt the shortening.... Now.... How do ya cover up the cut edges where the top and sides meet.... I used much lighter colors, but the white from the cut edges shows through.
