Years ago I've had a narcissist psychopathic girlfriend like Gloria. Her behavior, even her looks (short, brunette girl, brown eyes) were similar. At the beginning I thought I found someone really special, she was a sexy, intelligent, educated, overall very attractive woman. After a few months was the first time she unleashed her full anger on me because of some minor stuff, I was baffled, it was truly scary, she had a complete meltdown. Our relationship deteriorated rapidly after that, it was like a war. She demanded everything from me (time, love, care, money) but gave me nothing, I didn't have any rights in that relationship. That was the time when I realized, I was living in a toxic relationship, so I decided to end it. When I told her I want to broke up, she remained silent, it was scarier than her screaming. Later, she went on a rampage for weeks, called me 20 times a day, begging, crying, screaming in the phone, came to my home and my workplace, it was very difficult for me. I'm so happy I managed to get rid of her. Always be careful, if something seems too good to be true, probably it isn't true.

This is one of the most realistic scenes I’ve seen at how jealous women interact with other women. Someone I knew in school had an affair with a woman exactly like this, and she ended up annihilating the entire family’s life when it went south: she met his kids in public and showed them their home made sex tape, she emailed his wife and told him all the stuff they did and what he told her about the family, she called his work and created so much drama there that he got fired, and she ended up moving on to another city shortly thereafter, leaving the entire family in complete and total shambles. She messaged me on Facebook earlier this year asking to meet in person while she was in town, and I fortunately knew this story and knew to completely ignore her crazy ass.

the most interesting observation i had watching this, was that the 90's/early 00's were the last times it was socially acceptable and widespread to be a housewife. "Man works from sun to sun but woman's work is never done." It's a shame the term housewife has been degraded. On duty 24 hours. Feminists of the '70s are the ones who made being a housewife something to be ashamed of. So women had to have a job AND be a housewife. Two jobs, both difficult. I was always glad my mother was home when I came in from school and my father always had a homemade hot meal ready when he came home.

@jordyjohnathan512310 ай бұрын
Cissy2cuteh Lol women having two jobs in the form of housewife and work is not new for poorer working class women, and especially black women. Make no mistake that the role of just being solely the housewife was one mostly reserved for middle class white women and they were the main demographic of that feminist movement you mention. I agree housewife shouldn't be degraded as a job but the real motive I think of that movement was they simply wanted the moblity to have the economic power that their husbands had(Carmela's character is a great encapsulation of that idea). Thus leaving women of lower class and different race in the dust. So much for womens liberation...

Not really. Carmella was quite dumb. Head completely up her own ass - the only thing she was 'smart' about, was knowing she needed Tony. Anything she tried to do beyond him was a failure. When she couldn't divorce him and take half his money, she chose to stay with him regardless, because it was easy. She grew to deeply resent Angie Bonponsiero when she saw her become successful with the Body Shop - her own money, driving a fancy Corvette.....doing well enough to even put money of her own 'on the street' through the Family. Angie went through shit, and came out much stronger for it. You could never see Carmella doing that. She's just too spineless.

I think had Tony not sent Patsy Parisi to threaten Gloria at gun point it certainly would have ended up that way and I reckon had Gloria hurt an animal Tony would have gone beserk and killed her ass he hates cruelty to animals remember. Although Tony should've took notice when he first met Gloria in Melfi's office and her opening line was "I'm serial killer I murdered seven relationships" that's a red flag right there but Gloria being hot and seeming independent fooled him and thats how they reel you in. They're like fireworks they look pretty and exciting but once the spark fades you realise how fucking dangerous they can be. One example being when she called and spoke to Carmela and Tony went down to Globe Motors and got rough with Gloria if you notice she licked her lips and got excited because it got Tony's attention. Any other sane woman would have been terrifed if a man grabbed them round the throat and threatened them but Gloria got excited and even tried to normalise her behaviour by saying its normal for her to be curious about his wife! Look how pissed off she got when Irina called him she went ballistic because in her mind Irina is competition just like Carmela is competition thats probably why Gloria has no friends because she sees other women as competition and I wouldn't be surprised if she had slept with or put the moves on a friend's husband because once again its excitement and a potential drama and women like Gloria thrive on that its like a drug to them.

Even though they both have borderline personality disorder, Gloria seemed more stable and more intelligent than Alex Forrest. Eventually she would probably try to hurt or destroy Carmella in some more spontanious ways rather than personally entering the house and boiling the rabbit or killing Carmella herself like Alex Forrest did.

I find it interesting how Carmella was very attuned and able to detect innuendo and barbs within her Italian mobster social circle, but when she encountered the same thing from "civilians", it would occasionally go right over her head while she was trying to maintain her harmless, agreeable image in the civilian world. Very interesting.
