Tony really become super toxic towards his crew and everyone else like Hesh, also just really insufferable in general. It's no wonder by the end Carlo more than likely flipped. I genuinely think Tony was killed in the final scene. Let's assume he wasn't, his life was pretty much over anyways. If Carlo starts talking then he's fucked in that regard, but also all of his top men were dead, in jail or just sick of him. Chrissy is dead, Silvio and Bobby are dead, Gene is gone, Vito is gone, Carlo is MIA (cooperating with the feds), and then finally Hesh is done with him too. He had no one left and was about to get indicted anyways because of Carlo. I think Chase was trying to show us where that life leads you eventually. You either get murdered, do life in prison or you're left alone with no one to trust and love. Not a glamorous life after all.

Nah, not love, He was just looking for an excuse to play tough guy once again. After this scene he confronts Carmella because he thinks she put Chrissy and Bobby up to it. He says, “My problem is I'm old enough to sit with Dad all night, bring shit from the house, be a messenger boy but I'm too young to deal with the larger issues?" She has no idea what he’s talking about. This speaks to AJ’s sincere delusion that he thinks he’s a part of it all rather than just a child in arrested development who has to be constantly managed. The fact that this is clearly his motive rather than anything having to do with his dad actually reveals the opposite about his character- he’s a little loser sociopath. They should have just let him try to take out June in prison on his own, haha, can you imagine?? Would have been so glorious. I Hated AJ so much, as both a character and as one of the worst actors ever cast on an HBO program-to this day even. Every scene he was in brought me out of the moment and brought down the episode, as suddenly it felt like community theatre. One of the few mistakes they made with the show, but a doozy.

@MattCarvin good thesis,but you're wrong about Robert Iler being a bad actor. His character and Aida Tuturro's Janice are phenomenal in their roles because you hate them so much as people. They exemplify people you meet and probably know in life and it grates on you,as well they should. That's the whole point of their character being important to how Tony's world is full of losers,even in his own family.

Thank you so much for putting this up. Bobby’s character arc always pissed me off because he went from barely functional errand boy to underboss as soon as it suited the writers.
@themistoklestheodosopoulos62532 жыл бұрын
He married Janice that's when that shift happened. But I agree his shift from season 2 to 3 was off. We went from like a barely functional grunt to a normal guy working for Junior.
@maylabrown45842 жыл бұрын
I mean tbf he was working with Junior as his right hand guy and there wasn't anything he was incompetent at that we knew of, when he was sent to do his first kill he was a bit unsteady but he got the job done just the same. Besides, who else would he have given the Underboss role too? Sil was already his Consigliere, Christopher had problems and Paulie? Come on now.
