So growing up with just me and my older brother before he passed, he always let me play video games and watch anime with him. 3 games that he loved to play were DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Smash, and Kingdom Hearts. He was really passionate about KH for as long as I can remember, and I would sit there amd watch him play for hours on the ps2 (at least a think it was ps2, it coulda been ps3, I was little so I can't fully remember) and he even had a Sora hoodie that he only wore while playing, it had Donald and Goofy on it too. So when I saw the keyblade come on screen, all of the past memories with him just flooded me all at once and I broke down in tears. Congratulations Sora, and thank you Mr. Sakurai.

Man. Rewatching these reactions after the final DLC hits different. It’s an end of an era, the end to the journey. After the flame died and was brought back by Sora. Every reaction honestly makes me cry. Seeing people excited, happy. The world before it was in shambles. I was around 13-14 when the game was first revealed/released and now I’m 17 nearing the end of high school. Things have changed, nothing is as it was. But god damn, the impact smash has had on the community is so large scale. NOT ONLY SMASH - but the entire gaming community, whether it be PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Even Mobile, has given us entertainment for several years and to that I am eternally grateful. Yes - the trolls exist, but don’t let them make the things we are grateful for, the things we LOVE, less valuable. I long to be on the big screen one day, whether it’s a game in your living room, a movie at the theater, hell even an audio book. I want to do the things these companies have done for us for years and that’s to make people smile, to make people laugh, to entertain. I - no. WE can make a change. I feel that Sora's inclusion hit our generation the hardest due to us growing up with him, projecting ourselves on to him and the fact he's just such a generally likeable character. He was born from two franchises we grew up with (Final Fantasy and Disney) which turned out to be the perfect storm. In our minds, he could canonically pass in to other worlds such as Nintendo worlds and now that is practically canon. It's just a dream to see him shake hands with Mario like that too. Our dream character finally came home.
