As an Aussie living in the US I really, really, really, enjoy that patients go into the doctor's office/exam room instead of sitting in an examination room waiting, waiting and waiting for the doctor to appear. The first time I went to the doctor in the US the culture shock was huge of being shown into an examination room to have my vitals taken by a medical assistant and then left to wait for at least a good 30 minutes for the doctor to appear. Even 18 years later I still miss and long for going to the doctor's office/exam room to spend my doctor's visit only with my doctor.

I too have had anemia and have had off and on for years. But in my 70+ years now. And at the first sign of being tired go to the doctors and they routinely check it with other blood work every three months.

In regards to the Doctor that did acupuncture, the story he told about forgetting a patient in the exam room...that's my fear at the doctor's office because here in the USA, the nurse calls you, weighs you, takes your blood pressure and does a wellness question set, then they leave....and sometimes I've waited in the exam room waiting for the actual doctor...often up to 45 minutes, and I sit there thinking should I say something at front desk, did they forget I was in the room, how much longer should I give up waiting....by the time I think every waiting thought, the doctor strolls in with no acknowledgement that I've been sitting in the office for 45 minutes and that's after I've sat in the general waiting room for 30+ minutes...after my appointment should have been, even though I always show up 20 minutes early, just in case the front desk needs me to fill out some paperwork.

Yet if we are even 5 minutes late they won’t see ya!! I hate how they don’t see you for at least an hour after your appointment time, even though I make sure I schedule to be the first patient of the day.

I once took 6 kids into the exam room for an appointment. We sat for an hour, imagine trying to entertain 6 small children in a small room in which they aren't allowed to touch anything. I finally gave up, left and called the CO's office in a froth to complain. The next day we went back and were seen promptly. Military medicine at its finest.

I love that they dont use the f.ng pain scale. In the US, the sun rises and sets on pain scale and it infutiates me. I cant move or walk, I am in pain, awful pain, dammit. Docs here are too consumed with computer and numbers, the poor pt gets ignored. Sinful and neglectful.

I left my last doctor because she would always lecture me about weight loss, yet she was fatter than me. I don't respond well being lectured. I love my new doctor, he's a healthy weight, and has never lectured me, he is always positive about any weight loss even if it's only 1 pound. I've lost over 14 stone (14 stone = 98 pounds for any US citizen reading this). I respond way better with positive feedback and encouragement. If I get lectured, my inner teen wants to rebel....lol.
