Relaxing in onsen (hot springs) is one of Japanese people's favorite winter pastimes. It warms the cold body and relieves stress and body aches or such.
Onsen spring up all over Japan, and there are many onsen towns with hotels, restaurants, and other facilities associated with onsen. They are truly towns for onsen.
People stay at hotels, enjoy the onsen, eat delicious food, go back to the onsen, then buy souvenirs.
I realized that I had not been to such a place for a while. At the end of winter. Soon it would be too warm to go to Onsen. I hurriedly booked a hotel.
Among many choices, I chose Unazuki Onsen in Toyama Prefecture. If coming from Tokyo, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Station, then transfer to the Toyama Local Railway and take a local train for about 30 minutes.
It is a quiet town in the mountains.
Since Kanazawa is very close, I stopped by Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa before heading to Unazuki Onsen.
It was a wonderful trip.
Oh, by the way, although not mentioned in the video, Unazuki Onsen Station is 100 years old this year!
