I went to a small onsen town at the end of the winter | Japan travel vlog

Relaxing in onsen (hot springs) is one of Japanese people's favorite winter pastimes. It warms the cold body and relieves stress and body aches or such.
Onsen spring up all over Japan, and there are many onsen towns with hotels, restaurants, and other facilities associated with onsen. They are truly towns for onsen.
People stay at hotels, enjoy the onsen, eat delicious food, go back to the onsen, then buy souvenirs.
I realized that I had not been to such a place for a while. At the end of winter. Soon it would be too warm to go to Onsen. I hurriedly booked a hotel.
Among many choices, I chose Unazuki Onsen in Toyama Prefecture. If coming from Tokyo, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Station, then transfer to the Toyama Local Railway and take a local train for about 30 minutes.
It is a quiet town in the mountains.
Since Kanazawa is very close, I stopped by Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa before heading to Unazuki Onsen.
It was a wonderful trip.
Oh, by the way, although not mentioned in the video, Unazuki Onsen Station is 100 years old this year!

It's always a pleasant surprise when a new SorekaraMelancholy (remember than name?) video appears in my feed. It's got everything I love about your content: nice camera work and drone shots, great music and a slow almost pensive pace. I'm actually visiting Japan (finally!) in two weeks time and I've booked a nice ryokan in Hakone, another onsen town. Not sure what it's like relaxing in a hot spring in warm spring weather but I'm eager to find out.

This video was uploaded at such perfect timing when I'm currently working but also recovering from being unwell 🤍🤍 I've decided I need to travel to Japan at one point in my life, just so I can get away from everything and enjoy the serenity that Japan holds. The way you captured the mountains, the bridge, and town... 👏🏼 Thank you Ryo, for your hard work on sharing another beautiful video. Your videos feel like they're from a fairytale and a place for me to escape momentarily to find some peace. 🙏🏻 Take care of yourself, and I can't wait for more of your videos in the future.

Hey there, hope you are doing well! I remember very clearly when I came across your channel in early 2021, it really felt as if I had discovered a hidden gem and used to be so happy whenever you posted a new video; the thing I loved the most was the tune that played in the beginning along with the scribble "Sorekara Melancholy". Sadly, life got in the way, and I couldn't keep up with your channel, and now more than 2 years later, at 2 AM in the night, I suddenly remembered about your channel and just binged all the videos again. I was transported back to the good days of 2021, and I really was able to remember the things I felt back then, I thank you for this. Also, I noticed you have privated/removed some of your videos and changed your channel name, I know you must have your own reasons for doing this, but I sure do wish I could watch those videos again. Your filming style truly is fantastic and every time I watch your videos I feel this immense feeling of nostalgia or 'melancholy' (if you will) for a place that I've never even been to before! Even if it isn't regular, I hope you keep on uploading your absolutely amazing work and I will always be there supporting you! Once again, thank you very much for your stuff!

It was my dream to travel to Japan - not Tokyo but inner towns to see with my own eyes all that I’d read about. I am a great admirer of Japanese arts and literature (albeit in translation) and am totally fascinated by the Japanese perspective. I watch Japanese shows all the time and seek out Japanese films in international film festivals. This town that you have videoed for us seems magical. The surrounding mountains remind me of the lower Himalayas in India. The hot springs!!! Is that for the general public? I fear I would not get a chance to see all this mainly because I can no longer walk great distances and Japan seems to require a lot of walking. I love your channel and always look forward to seeing what you have recorded for us. 🙏

Hi りょ, I hope it's ok that I write your name like that. I discovered your channel just a couple days ago while searching for content related to Japan. I just started learning japanese a week ago (so far I've almost mastered hiragana of which I'm kinda proud 😁 seems like a good start) and I'm looking for youtube channels to learn more about japanese things besides the language. Your videos are amazing! They calm me down and I feel really immersed in this magical world that you show us. I also really enjoy the idea of limiting yourself to the subtitles. I think that the lack of talking makes it that the video leaves more space for imagination and your own thoughts. I hope you continue to give us that beautiful content, keep it up and all the best wishes from Poland ❤️
