Melo was one those young players who chose the big city over the average sized city hoping to get a bigger bag, more exposure, and club life. It failed in the sense that you can get money in any city, NBA is already worldwide, and the night life can be enjoyed in the off season. After their playing careers are done and they realize they wasted their best years partying in big cities they wish they had built a lasting legacy in the smallest markets. Dirk is beloved in Dallas and had a statue outside the arena. Duncan is an icon in San Antonio, etc... No one even remembers Melo played in Denver and his time in NY was forgettable. He has no legacy.

Completely hate both of their takes. Melo took Denver to the playoffs his rookie year on a loaded Western Conference. He made them relevant again. Why would you give an all star legend of your franchise number away to a second rounder. He forced his way out but he stayed in Denver when everyone else teamed up in Miami.
